Batman: Arkham City

  1. A video, albeit a cinematic teaser, was leaked online. It's got German subtitles but it does a great job of setting the tone for the game. You can find it here:

Arkham Asylum was probably my favourite game of 2009 so I'm obviously eager to get my hands on the sequel. It's going to be brilliant!!

  2. Arkham Asylum was also my GOY 2009. This is on my must buy list.

There was another trailer that had the Joker in it so I expect he will make a return for this game. I imagine his role will be smaller than it was in the last game.

  3. Yeah, the more I think about it the more I realise that Arkham Asylum was my GOTY too.

Which is incredible since right up to its launch it had completely slipped by my radar undetected. It's rare to have such a great game come along unexpectedly...if Arkham City is anywhere near as good as AA was I'll be very happy.

  4. Yeah, AA was an incredible game. 2009 was a great year for games but it still stood out. Is it a UK developer game? Someone told me it was and that surprised me.

  5. Yeah, it's made in London. At a show in June last year a guy from Eidos was telling me how the game totally took them by surprise and they're the publisher. Apparently the fighting mechanic in the game went through three evolutions until they got the one that released. Just awesome. It's one of those games where you can see the people making it love what they're doing because it shows in the end product....

  6. Sadly, I have yet to play this but I have only ever heard good things about it. I will have to wait until I play AA until I play the sequel. By then AA should be cheap so that will be win.

  7. AA is very cheap now. I picked it up for $9 on Steam, and it was worth every penny.

  8. Steam is PC only though. I am a console man so I would need it for the Xbox. Though PC games can be used with a control so I guess I could play it for the PC. I hear AA is not that long of a game though.

  9. AA is like any game in that if you race through then you'll miss all of the story and hidden extras. I took my time with it, completed it 100% finding all the joker teeth and riddles. I then completed the challenge mode. It's great fun. And Game are selling the 360 version second hand for about £10

  10. Do Eidos still have a presence in London? I used to have a friend who worked for them in Wimbledon so went to the offices a few times but I was under the impression that was gone and I believe she got made redundant.

  11. Well Eidos is technically Square Enix these days; they exist as their own division but live under Sqaure. They are in SW19 according to a business card I have in my wallet. The developers, Rocksteady are definately in London but not sure where exactly.

  12. I was disappointed that I didn't find all the Arkham tablets. I guess I'll youtube it sometime.

  13. Rumor is that Hugo Strange might also be in the next Batman movie.

  14. Two screenshots have wound their way onto the internet

Looks pretty much the same as AA so they've not made any major advances there; guess it makes sense not to change it if it isn't broken. I'm going to wager that they have refined the combat though..i really can't wait.

I only wish they'd made this co-operative play. Not with Robin because that would be incredibly camp but maybe have Nightwing as the co-op partner.

  15. Another screen shot has been leaked:

  16. I thought it was pretty good as it was. It was simple to master yet looked really good in motion.

  17. Lets talk pre-orders. Joker Carnival Challenge and Robin look like the best bonuses to me.

  19. I am never ordering another game from Play.com again - pre-ordered B:AC 2 months ago and it's not turned up for launch day. Does anyone know who the best mail order game service is these days?

  20. Blimey your postman comes early, mine doesn't come until gone 12 these days.

I usually get things from Gameplay.com, they always ship 2 days early so the game normally turns up a day early* and if it doesn't, well I have never had anything late.

*I always pay the £1 or so for first class, 2nd class is free but I like my games early.
