  1. Imitating Valve as much as possible with an 8 year development period, the Black Mesa dev team finally launches the game.

    Do you guys care anymore?

  2. Been waiting for it. I'll play it for sure.

  3. I'd still like to play it. Half-Life is a classic whose only issue is its dated graphics.

Here's the torrent if you want a fast download speed:

  4. I never really got far in HL1 so I may play this some time. I was not really a fan until I played HL2.

  5. WTF I have to install steam to play this? This is just like that bleemy origin business all over again. And what's with the installer looking like it was made in 1995? I haven't seen a file browser that ancient since Windows 3.1.

  6. you need steam because it's a steam game you doofus. this was a half-life 2 mod originally... the game that launched with steam.

  7. And now backwater valve have me registered on their stalking database built in 1983.

  8. I liked Hl1 but really got into the franchise with hl2. Not sure if my laptop makes this worth getting, plus I'd have to buy a source game, although that would probably be über cheap since its on steam.

  9. Yep, it only requires any game with the source engine sdk.. which steam conveniently filters for you.

  10. You can download the source for free on this retro database. In 1996 and 1997 flavours.

  11. I'm not really sure how great Half-Life is going to seem to console dudebros playing it for the first time in 2012. Back in 1998, it was a fantastic, ground-breaking game, and many of the things we now take for granted in shooters go back to Half-Life. But if Armadeadn can even get this running on his celeron, I'm expecting dudebro comments about how he doesn't understand what all the fuss is about, and how Call of Duty Black Ops is better than Half-Life.

I mean I'll play this becaue it's a cool trip down memory lane, but I don't see you guys getting much out of it.

  12. Okay, what's the button to aceess the typey cheat thing? These scientists need to feel my crowbar

  13. Eet does nothing!

  14. Dudebro comments aside, I'm impressed with what I've played. It's a nice update with some neat little touches that the Black Mesa mod people added here or there, but it also stays faithful to the vanilla game when it comes to the big stuff. This is really what Valve should have given us in the first place. Half-Life: Source was about as half-assed (bad pun) as you could get. I may use this as the start of a marathon of Half-Life games. I haven't played HL2 or the episodes in ages.

  15. I want it, but I am not buying anything from Steam. Surely I can torrent something and play it that way? Would like to see how the original compares to HL2.

  16. I have a bajillion free copies of portal and so do all the PC regulars on here. All you have to do is ask.

Edit: actually I gave portal away. But I do have Half-Life 2, HL2 Ep1 and HL2 Ep2 if you want them.

What's your Steam ID? This way you can play all of the Half-Life games.

Edit: I don't know why I'm bothering. None of you dudebros are going to play this.

  17. I would if I can use my PS3 controller. I have already completed HL2 and the episodes so I am only interested in this Black Mesa as like I said before I never got far on HL1 when I played it many years ago.

  18. You and the damn controller. This is a PC shooter. Use a mouse.

  19. I'm a console gamer. Mouse and Keyboard is alien to me. I can play Borderlands PC with a controller just fine :p
