Gears of War 2 Stolen Idea Thread

  1. Here are some pics I took on Gears 2 which I thought were pretty cool at the time. Damn, it's been about a year since I played that game regularly.

My personal favourite this one. It was my wallpaper for well over 6 months.

This was a team I was pitted against once. That symbol next to their names means they are rank 100 as in the very highest rank. Needless to say none of us got a single kill.

Man I miss playing that game, these pics bring it all back. Can't wait for Gears 3! Anyone else got pics from Gears 2?

I should add for those who don't know you can't watch replays and pause the game for awesome shots like in GT5, in Gears 2 you have to spectate and take pictures on the fly as the match is happening. So the timing of some of these pics is pretty darn good.

  2. It was good for the most part. I didn't like the cliffhanger ending, some of the awkwardness of the storyline, or how they botched the squadmate AI.

  3. It remains one of my favourite shooters. I liked pretty much everything about it. I've always been a fan of gory games and I'll never get bored of the chainsaw in Gears! I can't see myself using the Pendulum Lancer in Gears 3 much at all as it has a bayonet instead of the 'saw. Less messy=less fun.

  4. Gears 2 never looked that good for, but that is only because I lacked having a HD TV. I still don't but I will have to get one soon if I can. PS3 first though.

  5. Do you have a computer monitor? You can always get the VGA adapter or do HDMI to DVI.

  6. Of course I have a monitor. Hmm, that is a good idea. That way I won't need to buy a new TV for the time being and just use that. How much will a VGA or HDMI to DVI cost?

  7. I've seen the VGA adapter second hand at Gamestop for $5.

HDMI cables and adapters are cheap if you get them online from some place like monoprice.

  8. I have no clue on this really. Could you link me what the adapter is so I have a idea. Also, how would you go setting it up? Is it just plug in the lead and adapter via the monitor and then in to the Xbox?

  9. Here you go, but I've seen them much cheaper than that:

Yes, just plug it into the monitor and the xbox and set the resolution. It has red and white plugs for sound too.

  10. Ah I know what that is now. Thank you. Will HD Xbox games look perfect HD on any monitor? Games such as gears2 would have looked so much better for me if I had HD.

  11. I've used a standard computer monitor to run a 360 through; picture is absolutely spot on.

You will have to play with the settings though; there are 2 720p resolutions via VGA with one being slightly wider than the other. Depending on your monitor you may need to pick the higher resolution setting.

    Otherwise, crytsal clear HD gaming.

  12. Gears demands more than 720p. 1080p or nothing my friend.

  13. Does gears of war actually run in 1080p? I thought it was 720p.

  14. Nope, 720p it is. Not many 360 or PS3 games do run in 1080p, so there's no point forcing higher than 720p unless the console upscales better than your TV/monitor does.
