  1. oh mylanta

Only 53% of adults know how long it takes for the Earth to revolve around the Sun.

Only 59% of adults know that the earliest humans and dinosaurs did not live at the same time.

Only 47% of adults can roughly approximate the percent of he Earth's surface that is covered with water.*

Only 21% of adults answered all three questions correctly.

  2. I think the second stat comes from all the creationists out there, idiots.

  3. Humans could have live with the dinosaurs but the dinosaur ated them.

  4. This. Creationists believe the Earth is only a few thousand years old.

  5. Maybe God is trolling scientists with fossils.

  6. 1) a year and a third of a day

    2) it is said so but I doubt that is always true

  7. Google is your friend. ;)

  8. Less than 1% of adults know the 18th digit of the decimal representation of PI.
Even less than this know the list of valid pairs of nitrogenous bases connected via hydrogen bonds on opposite complementary DNA strands.

The point is who and how defines the "scientific common sense" so that knowing the percentage of Earth covered with water does belong to it but knowing 20 digits of PI does not?
