iphone basic question: video camera orientation

  1. I can google this probably but I figured I'd just ask the locals here.

So my sister just recently got the iphone 4s in december a few weeks before she gave birth to her newborn. All the videos of the baby have been in the silly portrait mode so they look like armadeadn's video of his screensaver he did a little while ago

I told her to hold the phone in landscape mode to record her videos but all that did was turn the picture sideways while still recording in that dysfunctional portrait mode. I assume there's something in the settings I should be telling her to do. Can anyone give me a step by step rundown on what to select to fix this? I can't imagine it would be rocket science to do this.

  2. I've heard about this before and sometimes it can be related to software that doesn't recognize the orientation tags in the image/video metadata.

Apple has their iPhone images tagged the same way as digital SLR's etc.
