Laptop to TV HDMI question

  1. Is every PC game able to run through your Laptop/PC to your TV? I only ask as I have just got Tales from the Borderlands and it refuses to show up on my TV. When I run the game the TV just shuts off the TV picture and it goes back to the Laptop screen with the game obviously showing up fine on it. After taking out the HDMI and putting it back on only the sound comes through the TV for the game.

I have had the Wolf among us, Taletales GOT's and Resident Evil: Revelations run fine befire but everything else including TOTB not being able to. I have tried two different HDMI leads so that is not the problem, and all my drivers are up to date and messing around with Windows+P yields nothing either.

  2. So some games works and others don't? Can you verify that the games that don't work are playing at 1920x1080? If I had to take a guess I'd say the game is defaulting to a resolution that your TV/HDMI doesn't support. But I don't know much about gaming on a TV.

  3. I think it must be something to do with the resolution as I was just messing around with it and changed it to one to match my laptop and when I clicked open the game again it came up on the TV. Happy days.

  4. you have to make sure your TV supports the resolution you cast to it. generally a 720p TV won't support 1280x720 but rather something weird like 1366x768

  5. Mine is a 1080p. In the game settings I changed it to 1280x720 and when I minimized it and opened it again it worked. I guess some games for me just need a resolution change.
