  1. It's close to the end of the year and I figure it's time to score the 2012 games we’ve played. Lets include 4th quarter 2011 as well since those may have extended into 2012. Rate them however you want.

    Guild Wars 2
    XCOM: Enemy Unknown

  2. The Good
    Skyrim
    Borderlands 2
    Sleeping Dogs
Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellioin
    Trine 2
    Max Payne 3

    The Meh
    Dishonored
    COD: Modern Warfare 3
    The Walking Dead
    Alan Wake
    Battlefield 3
    Ghost Recon Future Soldier

    The Bad
    Medal of Honor Warfighter

    Still need to play:
    Hitman Absolution
    Sniper Elite V2
    Deadlight
    To The Moon
    Spec Ops The Line
    X-Com Enemy Unknown

Medal of Honor got a bad from me because it totally bored me at the get go. An FPS that doesn't capture at the beginning is an epic fail.

For the Mehs, Dishonored was interesting for a bit, but got quite stale for me. Started out interesting and got boring enough that I don't even have an urge to jump back into it. MW3 and BF3 were OK, but nothing really memorable about them for me. The Walking Dead is just potentially a meh for me since from what I played so far (ep 1 and 2) was quite excellent. My friends who finished it says it goes downhill from there. Ghost Recon's campaign (I played it all in coop) was pretty fun. But the other multiplayer modes didn't do it for us.

  3. Didn't realize anyone else had an interest in X-Com Enemy Unknown. Turn based games are kind of a love hate thing for most. Mostly hate I think.

  4. I used to play turn based games all the time back in the day. I played the romance of the three kingdoms series all the time as well as super robot taisen. I stopped for a while and picked up silent storm when that came out. then i had another very long hiatus until i saw the reviews of enemy unknown come out and my interest peaked again.

  5. Wow. Was Alan Wake from this year? I feel like i played that horrible game atleast 3 years ago.

  6. You probably did if you have an xbox. The game only got ported to PC earlier this year.

  7. Journey, Borderlands 2, Far Cry 3, Max Payne 3, and Assassin's Creed III are among the best games I've played this year.

I have several key games yet to play. I heard the new X-Com game is pretty good. I was afraid they were going to turn it into some FPS crap, but the demo seemed much closer to the games from Microprose than I expected, which is a very pleasant surprise. I'll pick it up in a Steam sale. I also have not played Dishonored and hadn't really been looking out for it. All of a sudden there are 3 very good new games with stealth mechanics (AC3, FC3, and Dishonored). I liked what I played of the Sleeping Dogs demo; it will be another Steam sale target.

Is SpecOps: The Line good? I think I played a demo and thought it was crap. I've seen great things being said about it recently. I wasn't impressed from what I played. Of course, if someone played the Dead Space demo, they would have thought it was horrible when it was actually a very good game.

Battlefield 3 came out last year.

  8. People say the campaign in spec ops the line is top notch, which is why it got me interested. bfun wanted to list fourth quarter 2011 games into this rating system so I just followed his lead.

  9. Good:
    Max Payne 3
    Skyrim

    Meh:
    Battlefield 3
    Mass Effect 3
    Diablo 3

    Bad:
    Alan Wake

  10. I pretty much only played Xenogears this year and didn't finish it yet either as I probably didn't like it. I felt it was like a Tales game, just way too long and tedious. What game isn't tedious when it's 300 hours+??

  11. Ask Armadeadn, he's somehow managed to sink 1000+ hours into Skyrim.
