  1. Everything points to them announcing a new iPhone model end of this month when they do their typical iPod line refresh. It will likely be released in the first two weeks of October. Up until recently, rumors pointed to it being an iPhone 4S, with little change other than a possible camera update and the A5 dual core chip. Recently though, there has been a lot of evidence pointing to a completely refreshed iPhone 5. It probably will NOT be an LTE phone, though it might be HSPA+ for AT&T users.

I keep watching the new feeds for any indication of a press event. I passed on the iPhone 4 and kept my 3GS in anticipation of the next model, and I'm getting impatient.

  2. There's also rumor of a new economy version of the iPhone 4, with some modifications compared to the current iPhone 4 to make it less expensive. I guess the idea is that it would replace the 3GS as the low end bargain iPhone.

  3. This is seems like a pretty good iPhone 5 rumor for U.S. customers.

  4. Mobile apps has killed the general handheld market. Or maybe that I didn't enjoy the 3ds at all. I guess I'll wait for the vita lol.

  5. is nobody following the iphone news today?

  6. You obviously are, you cock tease. What's happening?

  7. apple is calling it the iphone 4s. you'll see a lot of posts about how underwhelmed people are but the truth is that it's beast. their vision is probably clouded by the name not being iphone 5.

it has the a5 processor in it (iPad 2) and beastly gpu. I think stronger than psp2? camera upgrades etc. ios 5 will be the biggest noticeable change for casual people.

for people in US, they might be disappointed that it has no lte or WiMAX radios. I skimmed through most of it through my RSS feeds, but I think I saw it will just be one single model? carries both gsm and cdma radios and supports all the frequencies?

  8. World phone
    UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz);
    GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
    CDMA EV-DO Rev. A (800, 1900 MHz)4
    802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi (802.11n 2.4GHz only)
    Bluetooth 4.0 wireless technology

(from Apple's official spec listing that's now up)

  9. Sounds promising - I really need to upgrade my phone soon. Bit put off by the 4S title but I've heard a lot of praise for the 4 so what the hell. Any idea on price?

  10. same as it has always been in US. $199 subsidized for 16gb and $299 for 32gb and so on.

  11. I just did some reading on this and it's out this month - bloody hell, I need to make up my mind soooooon.

  12. I've been waiting since April lol... I'll wait for the 5, than get this for the price of an iphone 3g :)

  13. Be sure to look at an overview of iOS 5, iCloud, and the Siri voice assistant features as well, if you haven't already. There are some major improvements on the software side.

  14. The iPhone 4S is underwhelming. It has a better CPU and a better camera and that's pretty much it. I was hoping this would be a game changer. Instead it's late and disappointing.

  15. Comparison of the graphic performance for the A5 chip in the iPhone 4S (same as the iPad 2) vs. the other top smartphones. Basically, it's about twice as fast as the nearest competitor, and over 7X as fast as the A4 chip in the iPhone 4.

  16. Remember how many people claimed that Apple endorsing HTML5 and neglecting Flash for iOS was a big strategic error? Adobe has announced that they will cease development on Flash Player for browsers on mobile platforms.

  17. flash was quite useless on something small like a phone display. i find it quite useful on a tablet though.

  18. It's a bit ambiguous what Adobe is doing actually. I've read a few places that they're going to continue to update flash for Android but that they won't be developing for any new mobile platforms. This probably has to do with stuff like the Blackberry Playbook and HP Touchpad flopping hard. It doesn't make a lot of sense to develop flash for platforms that may not be around in a few months.

  19. Adobe is completely discontinuing further Flash Player development for mobile browsers. It's not ambiguous. Flash for mobile browsers will not have another major release from Adobe. Not for Android. Not for anything else. Adobe will still use Flash as part of their mobile application development tools.

    Quote from Adobe:

"Our future work with Flash on mobile devices will be focused on enabling Flash developers to package native apps with Adobe AIR for all the major app stores. We will no longer adapt Flash Player for mobile devices to new browser, OS version or device configurations. Some of our source code licensees may opt to continue working on and releasing their own implementations. We will continue to support the current Android and PlayBook configurations with critical bug fixes and security updates."

  20. But Apple is on 5th generation OS and still no HTML5. Meanwhile Android market share was bolstered by flash support. Looking back I think the argument can still be made that it was a strategic error.
