Apple 2015: iOS9 + iPhone6s

  1. nah I just use it with one of my friends to send stupid photos to pass the time by. I just never used it to do short videos.

I use Google hangouts 90% of the time and Facebook messenger the rest of the time

  2. Chrome started crashing on my iPhone about a week ago. Is that Apples way of telling me to upgrade to 9?

  3. The short videos work differently. They just play on a preset timer set by the sender. You can also replay them until they expire.

The individual chat videos like you're doing is what I meant.... On the original version, as soon as you tapped a message the video would play. Upon release the video would stop and delete itself. Basically the absolute opposite of intuitive... you think you're clicking but unless your thumb is depressed the entire length of the video, it's gone.

    Fucking stupid ass app.

  4. so i just ran across this upon doing an icloud restore on my sister's iphone 6s.. feeling lucky right now that i didn't try this earlier in the day or she would've been with no phone throughout the day.

    stay tuned for more info

  5. Did they identify a cause for that particular bug? I upgraded a 5S and 3rd gen iPad and didn't run into that one prior to the 9.0.1 update. I'm getting some screen freezing problems in Apple Music in 9.0.1 though.

  6. ya my iPad air 2 didn't see that issue upon upgrading either. not sure what causes it. somehow the icloud restore triggered it.

was easy fix though. just connect to pc via iTunes and run manual 9.0.1 update.

  7. Decided to give the iPhone6s a test drive for a month or two... I actually considered dabbling with the Blackberry Classic but read the Android app support is gimmicky.

I went with the 4.7" phone. It hits a size sweet spot I didn't know existed since I've been rotating jumbo phones so long.... one handed operation is amazing! It feels great and is easier to use, so I find myself more actively using my phone than before. Although it could just be the new toy effect.

What is the deal with phone manufactures putting the headphone jack on the bottom these days? It kinda makes sense if you're shoving the phone into jeans pockets... but I'm ancient in tech years, so it's fighting with 20+ years of conditioning.

  8. The headphone jack on the bottom is done exactly because of the pocket thing you mentioned. Put it in upside down by sliding it in as you held it with your hand on top, reach in to get it and you don't need to juggle it to get it the right way up in your hand again. I don't use my phone with headphones a lot but it's something I wish it had despite the precedent that I too am used to.

  9. Just use Bluetooth. I haven't used that jack in years

  10. it also makes more sense as far as wire management goes too while using the device. Samsung flip flops around with the headphone jack placement. it's funny

  11. Last time I looked at wireless headphones they required a metal neck brace...

  12. A what

  13. Those are earbuds. And there's still plenty that don't use the neck harness. Such as jaybirds.

  14. actually, you may be better off using wired headphones/earbuds. forgot that apple still doesn't support apt-x yet.

  15. lol I already posted it on EBay at a ludicrous price. If I don't get anyone to bite I'll return at the 14 day mark.

I think only people coming from the iPhone5 can be happy with this. The 720p display has been eating away at my soul...also I found lack of image stabilization to be bizarre. Phone sizes are a personal choice, they are dicking over anyone not interested in a 5.5" device.

That said I probably am better suited to the Plus and 1080p, despite the ease of use at 4.7". I only got this because the Plus was sold out until the 30th.

  16. Some pretty interesting stuff going on with the 6s and it's 2 different CPU variants.

Apparently the 14nm Samsung A9 runs hotter and gets worse battery life than the 16nm TSMC A9. It looks like under normal loads the Samsung is only slightly worse off but under heavy load the difference is massive. There is no way to know which one you get until after you buy the phone.

It seems Apple can't now release a phone without some kind of controversy appearing shortly afterwards.

  17. It's a non-issue.

  18. That's a response from Apple, of course they are going to deny it completely.

This isn't an every day issue that casual users are likely to run into, it's what you may get if you are using the phone heavily. People on YouTube have been able to replicate this issue when stressing the CPU out. Someone playing games for example may get less usage on the Samsung.

  19. It could be a huge issue depending on your particular use case for the phone. When you're paying that much money, you don't want to know that you could have had a device that was far better for your usage for the same cost and didn't entirely because of luck of the draw. No, most won't care, but there would have to be tens of thousands than would.

  20. It might hurt the resale value of the Samsung chip phone. It's a chip lottery when the phone is new but next year when people start buying used they may have a chip preference.
