Best Game of This Generation?

  1. Who wants to play as catwoman? Seriously. Give me the penguin any day.

  2. Best Game of This Generation?

    Skyrim.

  3. Skyrim is excellent. It makes up for how disappointing Oblivion was for the most part. A lot of the things that made Fallout 3 so great carried over. That being said, I still think the Mass Effect games are better.

    My new list:

    1. Mass Effect Series
    2. Skyrim
    3. Fallout 3

  4. All have differing opinions it seems. I still feel Oblivion is the best, Skyrim didn't hold me for nearly as long as Oblivion did, just didn't have that much of an enthralling world I guess.

  5. If all you wanted to do was grind and make invincible characters, then I guess you'd prefer Oblivion. Never mind the cookie cutter world, disastrous leveling system, bad combat, dreadful voice acting, robotic AI, and lack of a story of decent main quest.

If you wanted a unique world, a good story, decent voice acting, and a leveling system that actually made sense, then Skyrim was better.

Since I don't have Aspergers, and I don't enjoy grinding, I'm going to go out on a limb and say Skyrim was a far better game.

  6. You're too cynical for your own good sometimes. I honestly enjoyed Oblivion more, maybe it was because it was the first RPG I played and it's just my memory that gives me the impression, but it's still what I believe at this point.

  7. Mass Effect is still better than either Skyrim or Oblivion. Bethesda has gotten better, but they still have a lot to learn about storytelling. And telling a good story is one of the main things that's important in an RPG.

  8. Mmm, I didn't really like the Mass Effect 2's storyline. It wasn't nearly as fun or interesting as the first games.

  9. You have very strange taste. Mass Effect 2 had the best storytelling of any game I've played. I loved how there were so many choices that could change the ending.

I will give credit where credit is due. Oblivion had amazingly good graphics for early 2006. It was truely the Crysis of its day. Also, the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood quests were well done. But good graphics and two good quests don't make something the best game of a generation.

  10. Mass Effects > Skyrim and Oblivion.

  11. I guess so, but gameplay wise I still much prefer the ElderScrolls titles.

  12. The games I've enjoyed the most over the past few years (in no specific order).

    Risen
    Left 4 Dead
    Forza Motorsport (the XB360 ones)
    Halo series (the XB360 ones)
Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero 3
    Neverwinter Nights 2
    Command and Conquer 3

  13. I'm going with Uncharted. It filled the role Crystal Skulls failed to.
