I want to say I tried one a very long time ago at work, but it was probably really crappy or had some special purpose. These days I'm using 36" desk mats for my mouse pad. I suppose I could put another, better mouse pad on top of that, but it seems to work sufficiently well. I think I bought my first X-Large mouse pad about 7 years ago and they were kind of rare. Now these giant desk mats are all the rage. I love this mat but I'm not paying $40 for it. https://deskmat.io/thomz/amethyst-valley-304593
After trying several imitators, I ultimately always end up at the at the G502. Probably have a huge bias towards it since I've been using it since as long as I can remember. I am leaning towards replacing my outgoing wired G502 with another wired one. Have you guys found anything better?
I bought the G502 and returned it. I kind of guessed it wouldn't workout but wanted to try it. Any mouse with a recessed pinky spot gives me pinky cramps. Probably something to do with my grip. I ran it side by side with the Razor Basiliskv3 Pro and preferred the Razor for that reason, but the Razor is pretty equal in other regards. I really really miss the G502 ability to swap audio output with a push of a button. I'd recommend taking a look at magnetic USB cables for your wireless desktop devices. I have one cable on my desktop that I switch between the keyboard and two mice. Super easy to move the cable between devices. I have this one. I find the cable to be less intrusive than a lot of mice cables. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BNGGHMH2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thanks, I'm considering lifting my ban on Razer for the Basilisk v3. It's $50 wireless compared to $55 wired G502. WTF?? I remember buying the original G502 for like $80 over 10+ years ago and the last batch I bought was only $25. This fucking things has more than doubled in price. I found this company RedDragon (on Youtube) who seem to only make G502 clones for as cheap as $12. But that goddamn infinity scroll is patented and I can't live without it. I heard Razer licenses the infinity scroll on the basilisk?
The Balisk has Hyper Scroll which is similar to the Infinite spin on the Logi MX 3S. It unlocks with a button or if you spin the wheel fast enough. It's a great feature that I probably use all the time without realizing. It's very natural feeling. The wheel is light to medium weight and I just got it to spin for 9 seconds. The MX 3S has a heavy metal wheel and it spun for 13 seconds. G502 had the infinite spin, but I can't remember if it had the fast spin unlock. I have a Red Dragon mouse which I used for a long time. It's solid and reliable, but the components and materials are bit on the lower end which is reflected in the price.
Logitech G Pro X Superlight is still really good, though imitators have pretty close equivalents now. This extra ultralight trend is really something though, if you're willing to go more custom and can get by without side buttons: https://zeromouse.co/
That actually sounds like it might be better... No. You have to turn it off and on using one if the buttons behind the wheel. I was too stupid to understand what you were saying here. But today I figured it out. This could be a serious convenience upgrade. Thanks!
