Borderlands 2

  1. From toying around with a couple of the other characters (my primary character is Maya), I've noticed that Lilith's Phasewalk abilities from the first game seem to be divided into Maya's Phaselock, which stuns/freezes and incorporates various powers depending on perks, and Zero's Deception, which makes you disappear and do elevated melee damage.

Axton is Roland 2.0 from my early impressions with him, although he seems to be more of a tank than a healer this time around.

I haven't messed with the Gunzerker yet.

  2. I'm using Axton right now with my friends. He's definitely a tank if you start speccing into survival.

Maya seems super helpful in a group though. Probably the most helpful from what I've seen so far. That Phaselock is just nuts especially with various powers you can add into it. The enemies seem to dance around a lot more than the original borderlands, so freezing them in place so everyone can focus on that one target is even more helpful than ever.

  3. And one other thing, for people who play Borderlands on PC, the inventory interface is as clunky as the first game. It works perfectly fine for consoles, but it should be streamlined a lot better for PC. I still fumble around a bit swapping equipped items. It does look nicer though.

The skills pane is clunky too. I preferred the original style where it showed all 3 trees in you face at one time.

Another thing that irked me was that you have you press ESC to get out of the maps/inventory/quest log, etc screens now. You used to be able to press M for map and press M again to exit which worked really well for quick glances.

The other thing is the driving. You used to be able to press A and D for turning and still use your mouse for mouse look/top turret aiming. A and D do nothing now and you having to use your mouse for turning.

  4. shit! I am no further into Xenoblade than I was last month. instant gamer fail :(

  5. For those who accidentally wasted their golden key the first time when reaching Sanctuary (you know who you are), you can get another one for free.

    http://shift.gearboxsoftware.com

Register there, but don't link your account yet. Go back into the game and go to extras and link your account from in-game.

  6. What level are you planning to use your key at?

Still haven't made my mind up on what level and whether to use on my solo or Monsly/Chi co-op character.

  7. I'm don't know how common these free keys are going to be but I'm just going to have to assume they are extremely rare at this point. So I'm going to make the assumption that this is the only key that I'll be seeing on the rest of my time on this character. I'll use it at about 28-32. On my character in the first Borderlands, I had a level 28 legendary weapon that was still using at level 40.

Also, one thing to note in this game is the Eridian weapons are actually useful this time around. They're called E-Tech now and I can actually use it a while before it runs out of ammo. It seems as it shares ammo properties with your standard weapons rather than relying on regenerating ammo/cooldown. At least the 2 that I have used so far are like that.

  8. What's this key do?? Should be on tomorrow, morning maybe or afternoon ish. That's vague enough I think.

  9. In the city of Sanctuary, the first city you get to, at around level 7-9, there is this big locked chest in the central hub (where the fast travel is). You need these golden keys to open it and it gives you 2 items of epic quality (purple) that are around your level. The key is consumed after you use it.

So be careful running around Sanctuary and constantly slamming on the Use button on chests like we all have done in Borderlands.

  10. Don't you only get a key if you have the premiere pack that your only supposed to get by pre ordering? I didn't but sainsburys gave me one with the code.

Did yours Monsly? Also gets you free mechromancer class, 3 starting weapons and a loot finding relic.

  11. Yeah, that was originally a preorder perk, but as chi posted in the other thread, I noticed you guys were still going to get the key after the fact, so I figured I'd throw out a word of warning just in case.

  12. Is this worth $60? Everyone seems to be playing it, and I'm tempted to buy it.

  13. There's no reason to pay $60 for a game anymore. :) GMG is still going nuts with coupon codes. I have no idea when they're going to stop this craziness.

Also, you can go grey market if you feel feisty.

  14. I'm not sure if that Green Man site is shady, but I do see that they take Paypal, so maybe I'll go that route.

  15. I rarely ever pay more than $40 to $50 at most for new games. It's definitely worth buying, though.

  16. So there is this mob in the game now..

It gets a little crazy the first time you meet one and trigger their rage.

  17. Also it looks like Randy Pitchford has been tweeting some shift codes for golden keys daily on his twitter account. Also looks like they post it to facebook too.

There's a redemption limit per code, which I have no idea why. They should just limit it to expire at a certain time and one code redemption per account.

  18. There is a trophy for letting one get to lvl 4 but Chi wasn't listening and killed the only one I have seen so far at lvl 3.

I am really going to have to keep an eye on these codes, could be very handy.

  19. I haven't been able to redeem any yet, but i read that the last one he posted about 2 hrs ago gave 4 keys.. zomggggg

  20. So would you guys say this is worth it for $43? You never really answered my question. Most games are worth buying at some point, but is this one so good it's worth buying at near full price? You all seem to be playing it a lot so I'm guessing the answer is yes.

And what is the season pass and why would i buy it?

I'm really bored lately, and I tend make bad game purchasing decisions when I'm bored, Diablo 3 being a good example.

Also, I never played the first game. So you need to sell me on borderlands and why it's so good.
