I get some British Humor but not all of it. It's just like how It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is one of the funniest shows ever if you're American, but Brits probably wouldn't understand most of the humor.
With comedies such as Friends and those types of shows which makes us think American humour is crap. Although, American comedy movies and shows such as Family Guy or South park is top notch for comedic values.
Did you start with The Blackadder? Thats before Ben Elton got involved and probably the weakest of the 4 series. The other 3 are very different I would advise going to them. Blackadder II is very good, Blackadder the Third is good and Blackadder Goes Forth is probably the best. That is one of my Mum's favourite shows, there is a picture of her standing in front of Doc Martins house in Cornwall on the fireplace in her living room.
