They've declared donations of around 10 million dollars, but only 3 million or so makes it to Uganda.

Kony is a bad dude, but this type of activism is just lazy.

  3. took me like 7 ppl bugging me before I finally buckled lol. But I watched the video. I watch baseball all day, I KNOW how to handle boring you all are WEAK, you'd never survive a mental torture section if you can't even watch a Baseball game!

  4. Yeah I can't watch baseball or golf for that matter. Football can go either way. Hockey is actually pretty exciting to watch.

  5. [IMG]

This is the best one in my opinion.

  6. Monkeys one made me actually laugh out loud.

  7. And sitting on a forum just bitching about how people are trying to raise awareness of a serious issue is stupid, what's your point?

  8. The video is basically spam, and the people running this thing, Invisible Children, are shady as hell and pocketing most of the money. They also give money to the Ugandan Army, which is only slightly less evil than the LRA. The slacktivists responding to it and changing their facebook status normally wouldn't give two shits about Africa and they'll go back to not giving a shit in a couple of days. Also, I bet most of these people are oblivious to much worse things that have happened in Africa, like the Rwandan Genocide. If you want to help children in Africa, donate to a real charity, like UNICEF. Don't give money to a charity that pockets most of the money and takes sides in a bloody civil war.

  9. Yeah, because donating money to Africa always works. It's not like people have been doing that for decades and place is still a shit hole. Suddenly I want to play FarCry 2.

  10. Turns out the guy from the video hasn't been in Uganda or running his "army" for six years. I hope the dicks who started this shit have to give every penny of money they've pilfered from gullable idiots back...or at the very least send it to a cause that actually helps

  11. I'm finding Armadeadn doing a complete 180 on this subject to be more amusing than that video.

  12. I haven't done a 180, I never once said that this campaign was created in order to raise funds and donations to send to Africa. Anyone that thinks that it is is a fool and are making assumptions. The whole point of the campaign is to make Kony enough of an issue for the US government to actually do something about it. It's not about raising money, it's about awareness, and they need donations to enact the campaign to raise said awareness, how are people not getting this?

Who knows if it will work. It probably won't, and even if it does who's to say someone just as bad won't take his place. The individual actions of a few people clicking a like button may not be anything to shout about, but when millions and millions of people start showing support for something like this then the government will sit up an listen. They sent advisors and then troops to Africa because a few thousand average joes demanded it, think of what they could do if millions of people demand it, which they will because of this video.

And you can poke fun and make silly humorous posters all you want but at least some people are trying to actually do something about this madman. He may not have been I. Uganda for the last 6 years but he is still in Africa and if you think he's finished with his crimes against humanity you're a fool again. He believes he's done nothing wrong so why would he stop?

@monkey I may not be helping much and will probably have no effect to the cause by myself but don't you dare sit there slagging off people who are at least trying something, anything to bring this man to justice by calling THEM lazy. If the world had less people with your attitude maybe he'd have been caught earlier.

  13. Why is it always the US's job to police the world? We're practically bankrupt. And then everyone hates us for it when we do it.

Military intervention against an army of children is a terrible idea. It sound like a great way to get a lot of kids killed. A better idea would be to find a way to convince these children to surrender and go home.

This Kony 2012 bullshit is the very definition of Slacktivism. It's not going to change anything. Most of the people changing their facebook status have a very shallow and biased understanding of what's going on. Giving money to the evil Ugandan army or having the US send troops are both shitty ideas. Sometimes it's better if Joe Sixpack remains ignorant of things he really doesn't understand. Also, as Ichiban said, this Kony guy hasn't even been active for like six years. We're making a huge deal about someone who's no longer even an issue.

  14. Exactly, but do you know what? The rest of the world may be even more bankrupt than us. I heard Japan's national debt dwarfs ours, that pretty much leaves Europe and we can't count on them..

So he's not done anything for 6 years, I'm sure his victims still want him dead.

  15. What about China, India, or Russia? Those countries also have huge militaries. But you don't see people going and crying to them when a Bad Man™ is terrorizing the world.

  16. Those countries suck.

  17. China India and Russia?? That's a nice trio of LOL if I ever saw one. China and Russia wouldn't listen to you at all and India I'm sure has their own problems. I'd rather bug the Europeans myself and deal with the drama. (their much closer to Uganda anyway...) though I doubt their financial situation is much better than the US', the whole world is in the crapper.
