Thinking of getting a laptop for internet browsing and emulation in the next month so I can get back online using a mobile dongle for now. Any suggestions for a decent enough one between £100 and £200?
If you want a new laptop at those prices you are going to have to look lower end. I found this.. http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Toshiba_Satellite_Pro_C660-2JD_Windows_7_Laptop_in_Black__PSC1ME-02100KEN/version.asp If not then second hand or a netbook maybe. Here is the cheapest stock that lot do and they are one of the cheapest I have found online. http://search.laptopsdirect.co.uk/laptops_under_300_pounds/page.asp If I were you the cheapest one I would go for it is the £250 one. http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Toshiba_Core_i3-2330_2.2-2GB-320GB-DVD-SMDL-15.6_HD_TruBrite-reg__-Intel-r_PSC1ME-01F00KEN/version.asp
I don't need a top of the range one but what you have shown will be fine. I just need one until I get a new place which wont be for a while due to money saving.
Why not get a desktop? More bang for your buck. Laptops seem a bit pointless for me nowadays; I either want to work or play top games or browse the Internet; a home PC and smartphone cover those well. I'd only consider a laptop if I needed it for work or was back being a student.
I have a desktop, but I cannot use it at my Grans due to space restrictions. So I want a latop for the time being until I find a new place. I have also been looking to see about running my PS3 through the laptop too, and supposedly you can do with something. I forgot what it was called though.
We only have a laptop at home as we don't want to clutter the place up with a desktop. The laptop goes away nicely and it out of sight.
Grim, is it possible to use a laptop and easycap plug in so I could run a console through the Laptop screen, or would it break the screen?
I don't care about whether or not it HD as have always been SD, but surely it won't lag since it wont be using the laptop but only its screen? Using a PC monitor is fine so sure a Laptop one is sort of the same?
The Easycap is a TV tuner and plug in TV tuners are dependant on your processor. It doesn't connect directly to the screen. You might do ok though, if this guy is anything to judge by. Although everyone else is saying the opposite.
I'll have to get a better Laptop then that guy has then buy a easy cap and hope for the best. I dont have space to play my PS3 on my Grans TV so a Laptop will solve two of my problems for now. Plus I really want to play the FFXIII-2 and Max Payne 3.
Do you have any desk or shelf space? You could get a computer monitor with HDMI and built in speakers and plug your PS3 into that. You could also pick up a keyboard and mouse if you wanted to use your laptop like a desktop with the monitor Something like this ASUS would work for £151 with free shipping. You could play games in 1080p with sound, and just continue using your current laptop. Seems like the cheapest/best option for you. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-24-inch-VH242H-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B001TH8OYW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1337272858&sr=8-1
I have no space other than for a laptop as my Grandad will kick off because he does not really want me there. Plus I would have used my own monitor for gaming by now. It will have to be a laptop I am afraid.
The problem with the laptop is that you'll be dealing with input lag. It just doesn't even seem like it's worth messing with. I would hold off until you get your living situation squared away and then pick up the monitor.
And so ends the most hectic couple of weeks for the print room. I had to print and bind the 3rd and 4th year project reports for the students to hand in at 12noon today and I've just finished. It wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't run out of black toner a few days ago, then my imaging unit needed replacing. Cue frantic phone calls asking for next day delivery of said items. The students were told to get their reports to me by Friday of second week, it's now 4th week and I still had students trying to give them to me this far past the deadline. Busy busy busy, but now I can relax.
We keep loads of toner in our stock room to avoid emergencies, you would be surprised how much printing and copying a solicitors does. I would assume you are on a toner inclusive contract meaning that it is free anyway? We just order spare toner for any copier when we get down as low as 2 on any one colour and 3 on black. We pay for toner on the stand alone HP laser printers but have started using refurbished cartridges as they are 1/3 the price of the offical HP ones which can cost as much as £250! We probably don't do quite as much as you but our biggest copier at head office (50 page per minute) we have had around 3 1/2 years and it has done 1.5 million prints.
Yeah we go through a lot. It was my fault for not making sure I had some spare. I had two spare each of yellow, cyan, and magenta but no black. Lesson learned. Next April I'm going to make sure I've got enough and am going to conduct monthly checks of the imaging units.
Got my new Red V5C certificate this morning. Apparently a bunch of the blue ones have been stolen so they've changed them to red. Can't say I'm too keen on them but they do have a fancy QR code on.
