Go for the Lenovo. Acer is absolute garbage. Lenovo Ideapads are some of the better consumer grade laptops.
I just decided that just before you replied. It has everything I need now and I can supposedly play some PC games which would be nice. Wouldnt mind trying Max Payne 2 and maybe the Witcher if they have this Laptop in store. Any idea what I can expect regarding speed, gaming and ect if I did get this?
The A6 APU should be decent for light gaming. I rip on AMD a lot, but Llano is one of the few bright spots for them. It lets you get a laptop with a half-way decent GPU for not a lot of money. Well optimized stuff from Valve and Blizzard should run fine. Just don't expect to play anything really high-end at acceptable framerates. http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-6520G.55734.0.html A6 running StarCraft 2 Diablo 3 Both run great. Crysis unfortunately is a bit of a mess: Skyrim looks okay, as long as you keep it on medium and don't push the settings too much:
Change of plan because the one I want is only available in a store further away and my mates will only drive to Exeter. Bastards. http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/lenovo-g570-15-6-laptop-gun-metal-12377745-pdt.html
You don't want an Aspire, it's not even a SB. You don't want a quad core either. at this price the best gfx card you can get is most important but second you want the most mhz you can get too. For gaming (especially emulation) number of cores means squat. hold your horses I'll see if I can find you one
They already set off ages ago as had to buy something in that area. It will do I guess I dont need nothing super flashy for now.
That Sandy Bridge i3 is a very respectable CPU, you just won't be doing as much gaming as you would with the Llano APU as Intel Integrated video is pretty lame. Just make sure you go with a Lenovo. Acer has dreadful build quality. You'll be buying a new laptop again in a year if you get the Acer. Also, I'm a bit confused. Someone is picking this laptop up for you and bringing it back? Or you're going with them to get it?
yeah... I'd be EXTREMELY on edge on the chance they'd jack your money and run lol.... I hear lenovo's consumer brands aren't much better but. Anyway when refering to the non-SB i3 I just meant the Intel HD (last gen.... well I guess it'd be last LAST gen now) controller as opposed to the HD3000 which is decent, for integrated. But yeah, the proc itself, though hotter running than an SB and no quicksinc (video editing help), is pretty decent for your needs.
My best mate is going up with his missus. I doubt they will jack my money as one we have trust, two we are best mates for god knows how many years and three im at they're house with their baby and expensive things. Do you have to charge up the laptop for a certain amount of time before use or is it ready to go?
That's what I was thinking. I'd be very wary about handing some "friends" what equates to about $700 USD in cash.
Consumer laptops in general suck ass. If I were on a tight budget, I would buy a used Thinkpad or Latitude before I'd ever look at anything consumer level. That being said, Lenovo Ideapads aren't bad compared to a lot of the shit that's out there. I'd take one over an Acer, HP, or Toshiba in a heartbeat. @Phisix You can use it while it's charging. Just make sure you run down the battery a few times.
Probably a couple of hours. You'll also want to format and do a clean install of Windows 7 so you're not dealing with bloatware. I can provide you with a disc image if you need one, and you can just use the windows key that comes with the laptop.
Preinstalled crap that slows down the computer. Usually trial versions of software that are full of ads.
My car us broken, started for less than a second and stopped now it just turns over. RAC just called back to say they will be here within 40 minutes. Good thing I didn't cancel my reward bank account. Wasn't using any of the features but it has come in handy now.
Easy fix for the chap, apparently because it shut off so quickly from cold it flooded. He put his foot to the floor, turned it over and it eventually fired up. He said it needs a bit of a thrashing, because I don't use it much its probably a bit clogged with carbon. I thought that was only a problem with diesel's but hey ho.
