Because these are 16+ year olds do you need one of those checks to make sure your not a psycho/murderer/paedophile or is that sort of thing OK when you teach older kids?
I think monsly just took the job for the holidays. More time to play his collection of crappy games. Maybe there isn't a check, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to get the job.
Yeah, CRB stuff to do but that should be fine - dodgiest thing I've ever done is snipe eBay auctions. Pay works out a lot less precisely because of the holidays and so on. I'm happy to try it as my job's been doing my head in for a long time. Had the option of going for a more senior position in my work area or trying something new. Think I'm best off seeing how this new thing goes really. Stressy but good!
Good on you, I have been threatening to do something similar for years but don't have the get up and go to do it. I know it sounds terrible but I get annoyed when I see a friend of mine who is bettering himself by doing a degree in some kind of medical field as it makes me look like a lazy git. In 4 or 5 more years he will be a doctor in something to do with pathology (he works in a hospital in the new born screening department) and I will probably still be in the same job hating every day that goes by. Hope it goes well for you. I assume you would start in the new school year (September), if so that gives you plenty of time to get your teacher beard in order.
@grim: My beard is in place already - my wife though I looked exactly like a teacher on the interview day so maybe it helped. Can't wait for it, though I'm sure I'll be bricking it nearer the time. Thanks for all the good wishes everyone, much appreciated
Yeah lotsa luck man! I taught sunday school and that's enough for me. They were 9 year olds though, wretched hobitses.
I miss my lazy dossing around days. Now my weeks are filled with work, a second job for 6 weeks, gym and mates screaming annoying kids. Bah humbug!
Congratulations on becoming a man my son. Now you see why the wife calls me Victor (Meldrew). Adult life is very much worth moaning about as it is 95% stress. I never believed my parents when they told me being at school would be the best days of my life, I do now it is too late to enjoy them even more.
