  1. Sounds are worse than the PS1 version. This new FFVII PC release is a port of the last PC port, but with a few new things.

  2. I don't remember the sound being worse, the only bad thing I remember about the PC port wad the cutscenes which were full of lines due to them being interlaced.

    The character models were much better than the ps1 version and there are some fantastic mods out there to use the advent children style models.

  3. I recall a mod to change out the music of the PC version since it sounded terrible according to people who played it. Either way, it was a really lazy port since they never bothered to optimize it for the PC. Don't know why they even bothered to re-release it the same with just cloud saving and character editing cheat as "features"

    What the hell is the point of cloud saves if you have to repurchase to re-install the game later on anyways?

  4. didn't we go over this? (multiple gaming forums... I might have them mixed up) they're midis, if you don't have the right soundfont installed they can sound aweful (like default) or not at all. The PC version shipped with a software yamaha sound synth that sounded pretty good but was a resource hog (as all s/w solutions are), but when your game uses midis what ya gonna do? Obviously the idea never took off.

    But using the proper sound synth like my SB PCI did in H/W (doubt any current card, not that there are many in the first place, support h/w sound syntesis) makes that game sound BETTER than the PS version. FAR BETTER! At least as good as any mp3. but again it was buggy, the best codecs some would play some wouldn't. It never caught on.

  5. It's sad when a game released on PC in 2012 isn't as good as one released on consoles in 1997.

  6. It's not considered a new release for PC though. It's just a re-release of the 1998 PC version with a character editor and cloud saving and distributed digitally.

  7. Though somehow I would expect most PC users have emulated it with a PS1 emu instead of buying the PC version.

  8. I was taking the mickey.

  9. I still have my copy

  10. My "friend" "borrowed" my original copy 10 years ago. I had to replace it with a *spit* platinum edition.

  11. I have 2 copies but disc 2 is broken on one set and doesn't load past the copyright screen.

    I have PSN version and PC version too.

  12. Wasent there a special Japanese version of PS1 FFVII that only they got back in the day? I am sure there was.

  13. The Japanese version didn't have Ruby or emerald weapon so perhaps they got a re-release, FFVII international or such like to include them. I think you started at level 1 in Japanese version too or yuffie did, seen it used in some challenges.

    I think that happened with FFX too as only us Europeans got dark aeons on first release.

  14. Your nonchalantness is fooling nobody grim. We all know you have an unhealthy obsession with FFVII.

  15. He used to once upon a time.

  16. I know the game back to front, even I admit its quite sad really.

    Still not mental enough to take on a. LLNIIENACMO challenge or such like.

    LL = Low Level (28 )
    NI = No Items
    IE = Initial Equipment
    NA = No Accessories
    CMO = Command Materia Only

    The people who do that sort of stuff know the game mechanics down to a crazy level.

  17. A low level run would be the only one for me, but I love power leveling. Having all level 3 magic and level 3 limit breaks before the end of disk 1 always pleases me.

  18. I can sit down and beat it in a single day... ofc that's close to 20 hours (on a good day) so it's not every day. I wish I could say the same about FFX but I can't play for more than like 6 hours and not want to hurl.

  19. The fact that you know what this acronym means worries me.

  20. Deleted the Jailbait thread thing and IP banned the guy who posted it. Some of those girls looked about 12 or 13. At least they weren't naked or I would now be composing an email to the FBI cyber crime division. There are enough pedophile scumbags on the internet that I guess it was bound to happen at some point.

    I guess I should reiterate, you can post NSFW images in the dumpster. You could post a whole porn thread if you wanted. But don't post anything illegal or questionably illegal, examples being things like kiddy porn or bestiality. I can't believe I even have to put this into words as it should be common sense, but well, people can be idiots and asshats.
