True. Walmarts, apartments, and even business complexes. They are actually the easiest to access after-hours since everybody is gone. They might have one lone parking security patrol, but as long as you act like you belong there they leave you alone. Most of them know how little authority they have anyway.
Bloody tv I just picked up has a stuck pixel. A few taps have almost brought it to life as it now goes green from time to time but now using one of those apps to try to bring it to life. If it does go away it will be back yo john Lewis after work tomorrow.
My new 3DS Xl got a long line of dead pixels on the bottom screen earlier. I only used my finger on it and it must have done it. That or the inks leaked. Its just annoying.
I may have cleared the stuck pixel, a combination of the app which turns it on and off at a ridiculous rate and a gentle rub with a cotton bud. The screen is now entirely black, when I first turned it one one pixel was stuck on green, after the app it would flash green randomly and now its all black. See how it is in the morning as knowing my luck it will be back but I would rather not have to box it back up. Got a 5 year guarantee so even if it comes back later I am covered.
You sure you're ok with that? I've heard different retailers have different policies with dead pixels and that some can be pretty shitty. You'd hope John Lewis would better but I've had some shitty experiences in the past, albeit with different products.
Well I ran it for an hour this morning and no matter how much black I threw at it (changing channel on freeview is an all black screen on a Toshiba) it didn't once show a green pixel. Couldn't take it back now even if I wanted to as they would test it and find all the pixels displaying the correct colour. When I first saw it and called John Lewis they said to bring it back to the store and from Google it looks like they are pretty good. This one is the middle part of the screen so it was very noticeable when it was at fault. This to me means it is a massive fault with the TV and so would have to be replaced/fixed. Checked on Google and apparently John Lewis are very good at resolving dead/stuck pixels. Anywho it has gone away now so unless it comes back all is good and I have a 5 year guarantee should anything else go wrong. Must remember to copy and maybe make a digital copy of the receipt as I find they tend to fade over time and 5 years is a long time.
he is intelligent in his cheapskate ways. I'd bet he'd bring it in after 4 years and 360 days too if he needed it, I salute you! Than again you Brits do pay top price for everything out there.
I will have you know that I used £75 worth of vouchers that I got for free for John Lewis and I got a DVD player for free with loyalty points which I had accumulated in my local supermarket over the past 6 months and still have £10 worth of points left which I will save and add to until Christmas for loads of free treats. And the DVD player I picked up had a 1/3 off in store. Didn't get a combi again in John Lewis as the TV was covered for 5 years but the DVD was only covered for 2 and I didn't want any strange problems to appear in the 3rd year that they decide was due to the DVD. I am very savvy when it comes to my purchases, I still have more than 12 months left on my 5 year warranty on my main TV in the living room. Hoping it breaks down in the next 12 months so I can get a nice new one. If it hasn't gone by June I might have to see what I can do to help it along . I also had my food shop (groceries) delivered by Sainsbury's yesterday and they charged me for a bag of stuff that didn't get delivered to my door. Made them come back at 21:30 and they gave me doubles of everything that got missed so I have some free food too.
livin the loife I tell you, livin he Loife! Nice grab on that DVD player, I bet it's like worth 100 bucks over here!.... oh wait who in Big Ben's name buys a DVD player for 100 bucks?? let alone a DVD player period... a 22 inch screen?? what is this 2007??
It is for my 4 year old daughter, she doesn't need a 50'' screen yet nor does the have the room for it with all her toys around the place. Better than a 19''. She has loads of DVD's including nearly the entire Disney collection, her old TV had a DVD player built in so I needed to buy a new one.
Disney would have you upgrade to Blueray hadn't you heard of them no I'm only playing though.... Blueray it's 300% better than DVD!!
But seriously, my bro got me those TMNT blurays for Christmas one year and HOLY CRAP! the digitally converted feature is SO much better than the vintage (untouched I'd suppose) trailors they show of the old movies! Like night and day!
A bit annoyed with myself at the moment. Because I didn't get on it I missed out on the best energy price deal as EDF pulled the Blue Price Promise plan sometime in the last couple of days. Ended up with Scottish Power on a fixed rate plan until January 2014, was spurred on when I got an email today telling me that Southern were putting prices up on average 9%. I should have left them a long time ago but it all gets confusing trying to work out if you are better off on a standing charge or variable rate tariff etc. I think they make it confusing to make it hard for you to switch. Southern also pulled the 7% dual fuel discount I was getting and made it a £40/year per fuel discount. If I use more gas or electric I could end up getting stung on that so had to jump ship. If anyone else is still mucking about might be worth getting it done soon. EDF pulled the blue price promise tariff and Scottish may do the same and pull the January 2014 tariff as they probably only had it to try and keep up. None of the others seem to have anything anywhere near as good. Southern could only offer me a fixed 2 year rate with my rates 2% below standard and a £50 get out fee! Starting to hate Southern to be honest, first to put prices up last year and this and the last to put them down in the spring.
Had a new washer and dryer put in because my dryer died and the washer was on its last leg. Went with front loading LG units on pedestals. Supposedly the front loaders use less water and energy, and are gentler on clothes, but I have heard that the doors and the seals on them tend to get dirty. I guess manufacturers are aware that crud gets on the door as this one has a self cleaning cycle. The clothes do seem to get a lot cleaner than with the older top loading Whirlpool I had previously. Because I have an older house from the 1950s, my laundry hookups are seriously ghetto. The drainage for the washer is just a hose going into a utility sink. Apparently that was considered a legitimate laundry hookup back in the day. One thing I learned is that there are not a lot of OEMs left making appliances. Most of them have been bought out by megacorps. Maytag, which used to make some of the best appliances money could buy is now owned by Whirlpool for instance, and I've heard the quality took a nosedive. Pretty much everything now is made by GE, Whirlpool, Samsung, or LG. It may be rebranded as something else, but the innards were probably made by one of those companies. I don't know if LG is as good as Maytag back when they were in their prime, but I have heard consistently good things about their appliances.
I have a Siemens who are owned by Bosch and it is really good, also I believe Miele make good white goods but no idea if they are available in the US. Front loading machines have been the norm over here forever, its odd when you watch a US show and see the top loading things but I guess they hold more and with all the XXXXXL clothes you guys wear size really matters.
They really don't hold more, that's the thing. In fact, the drum on this LG front loader is huge compared to my old top loader. I think it's more a matter of Americans being set in their ways, and energy and water efficiency not being much of a concern here until fairly recently. Do we really have to resort to fat jokes about Americans?
I am afraid we did yes but remember we are not far behind as I believe 1/4 of adults here are classed as obese. As for energy prices I am assuming that like the rest of us American's are now having to pay top dollar and things are going up year on year? Over the past few years our Gas and Electricity prices have been going up between 9% and 18% every year and they reckon it is going to continue for at least the next decade. The worst thing is the big suppliers keep posting massive profits but at the same time saying that wholesale prices are going up so they have to pass it on. They pass the prices going up on a lot quicker than they do when they go down! Our prices usually go up around October just in time for Winter and then go down in the spring when everyone stops using heating, its a massive con hence my switching 2 or 3 posts above to a fixed rate until Jan 2014.
