    Now I think you understand why when alterego was saying in the other thread to just convert MKV to something else, I was saying fuck that shit. Conversions can sometimes take hours.

    what's funny is that it's generally faster just to redownload a movie in the format you want rather than convert it.

    Yeah but I wasnt prepared to go and rerecord the 4 hours of skyrim (plus commentary) and the 4 hours of mgs2 I've already recorded. As I said before I can just record my future footage in mp4 so it's only a few files I have to convert as it stands.

    I've come to the conclusion that armadeadn needs to get laid. Recording yourself playing 4 hours of Skyrim is just sad.

    I never said that you should convert anything. I asked why you couldn't just download the MP4 version, which was followed by a bunch of b.s. about DTS being required for high quality audio.

    Mp4 downloads are awful compared to mkv. There isn't the standardisation in quality

    Nothing sad about doing an RP on a game you love. Maybe it's a little sad, but not as sad as going online to insult people.

    It's just a rip. There shouldn't be any difference in the ability to standardize quality.

    Mp4 folk can't do it. It's like how whoever uploads Asian films can't get a 720p rip under 7 gigs.

    It's the myth of piracy: that the files come from individual users rather than groups that are paid to rip and upload content for file sharing sites.

    Well, it's obvious that file sharing sites aren't going to wait on individual users to make or break the site in terms of traffic vs. their competitors. It's in their best interest to get content up themselves to ensure that people find what they're looking for and keep coming back, so why not pay people under the table to do it? It's not going to cost them much compared to the buckets of $$ they can make from high traffic volume.

    While there might be some of that going on, I also think a lot of them are just hobbyists who enjoy ripping and sharing movies.

    Surely the time has passed for Skyrim let's plays? We should really get him some help. He'll only play for another 1000 hours and upload it to YouTube.

    It's just something I fancied doing. It was really odd and bizarre at first as I'm not really used to talking into a mic when no ones around but after a short while I got used to it and enjoyed it. It's just another layer of immersion.
