Doesn't everyone in America drive rear wheel drive automatics? I am not surprised you are banned from driving in deep snow.
Woah, where did you hear that? A very large majority of cars in america are in the Honda Civic/Toyota Corolla class. Just weak 4 cylinder front wheel drive cars. Then from there, you move to Toyota Camry, Honda Accords, etc. Still front wheel drive cars. The rear wheel drive cars are mostly reserved for sports cars and luxury sports class cars. If you go out to rural areas, you'll find alot more people with 4WD/AWD cars capable of making it across tough terrain.
I'd say in Colorado only 10% of cars sold are rear wheel drive and those would be Luxury and Sports cars. I drove a Formula back in college and that was no fun in the winter. But one year I bought some cables for the tires and that was actually kind of fun. It didn't steer well but I could create huge rooster tails of snow and ice behind me. I probably tore up the road a little in the process. I eventually switched to 4x4 trucks and SUVs and never looked back. Although one year we must have gotten 5 feet of snow over the period of a few days. My truck was high centered for about a week. I only saw Humvees and Jeeps with lift kits getting around back then. Some days I miss that POS car. Looked like this.
Even with 4WD or AWD, you're still going to just be crawling along in order to maintain control. The roads were plowed, but when it's that cold with constant snowfall...you're just driving on top of an inch of packed snow and ice. You're never in contact with the road. I saw a guy with an SUV and he could barely get the traction to make a tight left turn.
Going to a farewell party in about an hour. A friend of mine decided that she wanted to move to England. I'll send her a link to our food thread and see if it changes her mind.
Whereabouts? It's a small place, one of us will probably be her neighbours. I'll ready a welcome pack of pork pies and sticks of rock right now.
How dare you! I work at Oxford, not that second rate Cambridge rubbish. @the Americans I thought you all drove pick up trucks, hummers, and dodge challengers.
See now this is why I've never used Cable up till now! My speeds for the passed few hours have been abhorrently SLOW WTF?? in 15 years with DSL I NEVER had this problem this is just Unacceptable!!
What did y'all think of the state of the union address? I was hoping for a bit more. To me it sounded like a rehashed campaign speech. Obama doesn't seem serious about reducing the deficit.
why would he be? No president since FDR has done that he can't do it without pissing off his sponsors did you expect anything else?
You mean the deficit that was $1.4 trillion when he took office and is now $845 billion? The one that was 10.1% of GDP in 2009 and is now 7% of GDP? http://news.investors.com/blogs-capital-hill/112012-634082-federal-deficit-falling-fastest-since-world-war-ii.htm
Wasn't bfun interested in jobs that provided a "new challenge" and were near military bases? He could be starting a new career as a domestic drone pilot for all we know. http://openchannel.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/01/29/16726198-anticipating-domestic-boom-colleges-rev-up-drone-piloting-programs?lite
