http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/hp-pavilion-15-ab254sa-15-6-laptop-white-10137891-pdt.html Found a good Laptop deal but it has integrated graphics Intel HD 520. Would this Laptop be able to run the Dolphin and PS2 emulators or should I look for something with a dedicated graphics card?
You might want to wait a bit and see how soon laptops with the new AMD/NVIDIA graphics processors (like the AMD Polaris) show up. Sounds like they'll be pretty powerful AND much more energy efficient. http://www.anandtech.com/show/9886/amd-reveals-polaris-gpu-architecture
@Phisix Don't buy an HP. Don't buy a laptop with a mechanical hard drive in 2016. Get something with an SSD. The new Thinkpads look amazing. Especially the OLED screens and that wireless docking station, which looks like it eliminates all of the hassle of docking a laptop with a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. The Thinkpad X1s are really standing out as some of the best laptops you can buy. It seems like Lenovo finally gets that you can't just match Apple. You have to utterly beat them and leave them in the dust. Macs don't have OLED screens or wireless docking. http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016...top-editions-and-a-yoga-that-ditches-the-lcd/ http://www.engadget.com/2016/01/03/lenovo-thinkpad-x1-at-ces-2016/
From what little I've read the Intel GPUs will run many but not all of the PS2 emulated games. So it depends on the game.
To be fair I have a lenovo and it has never let me down in everything. Checking Amazon see if there's any deals. Whats wrong with an HP? And is that laptop any good then or what? Not wanting to blow so much and £400 is a great deal Tbh I am leaning towards this one as its a good deal at the moment, has a 2TB HDD, looks nice and if my Intel i3 and hd graphics 3000 can run those emulators with lag then this with an i5 and hd graphics 520 should do the job. Maybe?
Sounds like you got crap roommates so get a cheap one. That way you wont feel so bad when they steal or break it. HP is fine. I've had them at work and they last several years. Of course they probably have their junk line of products as well.
Room mates? I live on my own haha. I gave in and bought it. The price was too much to give up on. It arrived today and I have been impressed with it so far. Massive space which I lacked before. It looks lush in white and the screen is bigger then my last one and I have tested out games on the Gamecube side of Dolphin and the PS2 emulators so far and everything is running as it should be, so another big upgrade from my old laptop and I am happy. Nearly adjusted to Windows 10 as well but I quite like it over Win 7 so far. Edit: Wii games work as well. Had Mario Galaxy 2 running at 60 fps. Happy days.
You should put that 2TB drive in an external enclosure and get a 500GB EVO. I have no idea how someone can even use a computer with a mechanical hdd in 2016.
I'm not a PC tech whizz or someone who keeps upto date as much as I should on the master race so I have no clue why SDD or whatever is better than a mechanical HDD or what not. And what th hell has happened to the forum? Prefered the look we had before.
ssd = solid state drive. no moving parts and uses less power. about 5 billion times faster than a mechanical hard disk drive. it's basically one of the biggest upgrades you can do to a computer overall. your loading times for everything will be instant and you boot time for windows will go to 4 seconds.
An SSD will give you the largest noticeable speed improvement over any other component in a PC. It doesn't help performance much but it shave seconds off of load times. Things load almost instantly rather than waiting seconds. Once you use it going back to mechanical will seem medieval. Sadly they are wicked expensive in laptops unless you install it yourself. And of course it's recommended you do that if possible.
Every other commercial on HBO this weekend is Lena Dunham dancing, jiggling, and flopping her belly fat at the camera... Premium Content apparently.
An SSD is the biggest upgrade you can make to a modern computer. Even your grandma can benefit from an SSD. Why do people think Macs are so amazing and so much faster than PCs? A big part of that is that almost every Mac uses an SSD. With an SSD Windows will boot in a few seconds and your programs and games will load almost instantly. Load heavy open world games like Fallout 4 or Skyrim also see a huge benefit from SSDs. An SSD also has no moving parts and uses significantly less power, making it an ideal upgrade for laptops.
I can't believe HBO hasn't gotten rid of that fat, disgusting child molester yet. Who even watches that terrible show of hers? It's not even like the molestation is a rumor or something. She writes about sexually abusing her sister in her book, and the abuse went on for ten years. Any man who admitted to something like that would be ruined and maybe even in jail. But because she's some feminist icon, there's a double standard and nothing happens to her.
Most fat chicks at least have big fun boobies. Her body is an exercise in sadness and disappointment. The androgyny, the lard, the tattoos that look like varicose veins. Excuse me while I go puke.
