  1. Why do you have a 21 year old picture of a field?

  2. What I find even odder is that bfun is a network guy, I've never met a network guy that uses Windows.

  3. And I didn't use Windows for 8 years. I cut my teeth SUN Solaris. Had to switch around 2007 and doing networking on a Windows box is like smelling a rose with a gas mask. Or maybe even some better analogy that I can't think of. MS broke all the networking RFCs back then because they were the mighty MS. Even a MAC would have been better.

  4. Isn't networking done through Cisco hardware. What does Windows have to do with it?

  5. Back in the early 2000s, there were two types of IT people. Windows IT people and everyone else. In the US Microsoft was pushing their Windows NT server hard. They were practically giving away their MS certification to any fool who wanted one in an attempt to increase the number of MS IT people in the industry. Also at that time Windows NT, 95 and 98 were not secured operating systems. Basically, if you were running an NT server or a Windows 95/98 desktop it was going to get hacked by a 12-year-old. So the non-Windows IT people embraced Unix, Linux, and even Mac extra hard. Not only could they be hardened to a near impenetrable level they had really useful network tools build right in. On the flip side, Windows have very few network tools and because they didn't follow standards they weren't as useful. Despite performing much worse as a server Microsoft went on to win the platform war and Unix mostly died out. Old IT farts like me still remember our history though and many try to use Linux when possible. I know several security people who still only use Linux or Mac.

Also, many Cisco devices actually run on a Linux core.

  10. What are you, like some hipster millennial born in the 90's?

  11. how depressing does it make you though? i thought about this not so long ago.. millennials born in 2000 were 1 year olds when windows xp came out. they were 1 when the xbox and gamecube came out too. they were 1 when the september 11th attack happened.

the standalone pvc forum wasn't even up yet. that launched in feb 2002.

they don't know of the world before the internet. hell, they probably don't even know of the world before broadband. to them, counter-strike has always been a standalone game. they don't know anything before world of warcraft. their first cell phone would be an LTE smartphone. they only know of a world of wifi.

they were born when dvd players were already in the market. they don't know of the world before porn streaming. to them, google has always been a verb because it has always been the primary search engine for them.

  13. What's a millienial?

  14. Your just trolling now haha.

  15. I seriously don't know what one is.

  16. Not sure if this was an uncharacteristic flop from Chi... or if the letdown was an April fools joke itself?

  17. Why am i a flop? I still don't know what you think I am.

What is a millenial though? I only just learned what an sjw is because monsly is one.

  18. There is no absolute definition yet. Millennials are all of generation Y, the tail end of generation X, and may include early generation Z. The range is as wide as births between 1976-2000.

Most of this forum are millennials. Except bfun, lol he had to work in the early 2000s.
