It's only been raining up here for a couple of days but it's depressing. My friend works in Edinburgh and he says it's like Venice up there with the streets disappearing under torrents of water; I think in Newcastle we've had it pretty good but I have noticed it was absolutely FREEZING last week to the point that I actually turned the central heating on in my house.

It's because I didn't have a laptop until 2007 and even then I didn't have constant/regular internet access until fairly recently.
Eff You!!! I go out to town in just a T-Shirts in winter. My complaint stems from the fact that it shouldn't be cold in friggin' summer.
Does "UPS Ground" mean they'll actually leave your shit on the ground? That's what happened today. My XFX 6950 in a big box with "newegg" in big letters on the side was sitting outside my door up against the bushes. This is not the delivery method I want for my i7-2600K, 1200W Corsair PSU, or anything else for that matter. I'm going to see if I can get this stuff delivered to the UPS center. It's a 30 minute drive, but at least my new stuff won't be stolen while I'm at work. They had always required a signature any other time I've used them. I don't care for this shipping method at all.
They require signature depending on the cost of the item (usually $250+). The leave stuff at your door based on the drivers discretion of your neighborhood. How far do you work from your place? I've had good success asking them to call my cell and driving home to get my stuff. But I work < 10 minutes away.
About 40 to 50 minutes away most days. I don't think I trust the driver's discretion. When these UPS jackasses delivered my front speakers, the boxes looked like they had been smuggled through Afghanistan. These were not cheap speakers. I'd call them up and tell them what happened and that you're not happy with this foolishness. Your item could have so very easily been stolen. I can't believe they did this.
Are you in a questionable neighborhood? My stuff gets left on the door all the time, except expensive signature required stuff. The mangled up box is bad though. I think it depends on the driver. My friend said he saw the UPS guy literally throw a box out the back of the truck onto his porch.
LOL. Like they care. He should just be happy they delivered it to the right address and didn't steal anything. I think you can call them up and request that they hold something at the distribution center, but there's no guarantee they won't just deliver it anyway. UPS sucks. I liked Newegg better when they used Fedex, but Fedex is expensive.
