  1. Somebody farted

  2. Must have been a Taco Bell fart. Those are the worst.

  3. Fucking get in!

The University has re-hired me after all this red tape bollocks. Excellent. I'm well chuffed :)

  4. Now the 'good old boy' can start molesting you again, he must be over the moon.

  5. It's funny you should say that, his surname is Mooney, I kid you not.

  6. Congratulations - you there permanently now?

  7. Thanks mate. Yep, permanent now. I think I'll make a career out of it, it's meant to be really easy to upgrade your job in the University, they like to keep people on who know how the place works. I was beginning to worry about not getting this job, panic over lol.

  8. I’m trying to execute a file.

Try first laptop and don’t have permissions.
Try second laptop which has permissions. Get error for wrong OS.
    Get server with right OS.
Try to down load file but fail because of security.
Try to put the file on a shared files system but fails and takes down link for some unknown reason.
Map a shared drive to the new server and try to move file there.
Get error that file is too deep.

    WHY.MUST.LIFE.BE.SO.HARD!!!

  9. That deserves a firstworldproblems hashtagsssss.

  10. Wow. No file is worth that effort. Just delete every instance of the file, then do a DoD wipe on every drive it was ever stored on.

  11. What are you trying to do, open a folder or run a file such as .doc? You just need to take ownership and then add some permissions.

Right click, properties, security, advanced, owner tab, take ownership, then add permissions for any other users that need access. Also make sure you choose 'inherit permission on child objects' if it is a folder.

This will be slightly different on different OS'es'es'es but mostly the same. I think the above method is at least 50% correct for Server 2003. I would VPN in to work and check but that seems like too much agro.

The rest of it I don't really understand what you are doing there, file is too deep? Share takes down link? What are you talking about man.... If it won't let you copy from a share in Windows have you tried in cmd? Found that usually works when Windows won't comply.

Monsly you will have to update your PVCF users database to show that bfun seems to have suffered some sort of breakdown here..

    UPDATE PVCFusers
    SET CurrentCondition='nervous breakdown'
    WHERE uname = 'bfun'

EDIT: I connected to your database and done it myself, seems to be all in order...

    SELECT uname, location, CurrentCondition
    FROM PVCFusers
WHERE uname in ('Grim', 'Monsly', 'Armadeadn', 'bfun')

  12. It doesn't matter. I finally got the file transferred and when I started the install it said please install IIS. I'll get destroyed if I try to run that without going through an approval board. I'll put the request in and it will take a week to get an answer.

  13. I was under the impression you were into IT in some form as part of your job orare you in one of those departments where each person does a single job? Sod being the guy who just does exchange all day.

  14. No I do a little of everything but I have to stay in my cage. I'm in a networking group but I use laptops managed by the service group and servers managed by the server group. Most of our work laptops are so locked down they aren't useful. I've managed to snag a few laptops that don't have the standard load but they also aren't servers. I have huge servers in another state I could use but it would be a pain to set them up or to ship them. The server team has given me a several virtual servers but they are dedicated for another purpose. I can't break the treaty and change their purpose. See in the past the server team might do something crazy to take down the network or the network team might do something crazy to take down live servers. To keep the peace every major project has to go through a approval board with members from every team. Then if something bad happens there can't be any "you didn't tell us" finger pointing.

Now if I run an undocumented web server on the network I'll get in big trouble. I know that because I used to run the scans every night looking idiots that were running undocumented web servers.

  15. Awesome, if I can't work something out I might have a question for you at some point if you don't mind....

Getting fed up with suppliers this morning.. twice I have ordered a SAS to 4x SATA cable and twice it has gone on back order and 2 weeks later ended up with the same SAS to SAS! Not happy as I needed the cable when I first ordered it and this is now putting me behind.

  17. My flatmate supposedly ia getting me a job as a trainee cook at a pub. Dunno if I would be good at something like that as I am a lazy person. Would solve my money problem though. Hmm.

  18. Yeah jobs help with the money problems. A cook is not a bad job as you can move around a lot after you get the experience.

  19. I don't know the details of everything it entails or even if it was a joke but he seemed serious. I know the head chef so that helps. Worth a shot I guess if it happens.

  20. Waiting for the headline on the BBC.. 'Massive out break of food poising in the south west of England!'
