  1. I'm glad he wasn't turned into dog food.

  2. I think the A+ is a good place to start. It can get you an entry level job that might lead to other things down the road.

  3. Being the lazy bastard that I am, I'm going to steal this from wikipedia:

Year 2010 income brackets and tax rates

Marg Single Mar/Joint/Wid. Married File Sep Head Household
    Tax
    10% $0 – $8,375 $0 – $16,750 $0 – $8,375 $0 – $11,950
    15% $8K – $34K $17K – $68K $8K – $34K $11K – $45K
    25% $34K – $82K $68K – $137K $34K – $69K $45K – $118K
    28% $82K – $172K $137K – $209K $69K – $105K $118K – $191K
    33% $172K – $374K$209K – $374K $105K – $187K $191K - $374K
    35% +$374K +$374K +$186,826+ $373,651+

It wouldn't cooperate with the alignment. I did some rounding to get everything in there.

It's also complicated by the fact that we have federal and state income taxes, although some states do not have state tax and do things differently.

If you can believe this, there are actually politicians here who are trying to go after that bottom bracket. $9,000 isn't even enough to live here, yet there are politicians who consider these people a burden and are actively trying to change the law to force them to pay taxes.

There are massive amounts of tax loopholes the rich and corporations exploit. They actually pay far less than these numbers would suggest. For example, hedge fund managers can get away with actually paying only about 15%. Some of the largest corporations pay no corporate tax at all, and some of those who pay no taxes actually TAKE BACK millions or even billions (Exxon) in tax subsidies.

  4. Maybe we should send our chancellor George Osbourne over to sort things out for you? We get taxed crazy amounts compared to what you guys pay. The average person (sub £35,000 per year) here will pay in taxes...

    20% income tax
12% (of gross income) national insurance
20% VAT on most purchases (we are not taxed on non luxory food etc)
5% Tax on fuel (electricity/natural gas)
60% Tax on fuel (petrol/diesel) bare in mind 20% VAT included in this For every £1.32 we spend at the pump 57p is fuel duty and 22p is VAT so we only actually get £0.53 worth of fuel.
Yearly car tax depending on the CO2 output of your car, mine is £155 this year but my fathers was over £400. If you have a hybrid or electric car I believe you are exempt.

Then we have council tax that every household has to pay to its local authority on a yearly basis, I think mine is about £1400 a year but you tend to pay over 10 months so £140/month with February and March off.

We pay A LOT of tax!

Obviously if you are well off you will pay a lot more and hit the high rate bands (40%/50%) and in all likelihood pay more council tax because you have a bigger house etc. HRMC are pretty aggressive too, they have been sending out letters to loads of people who pay PAYE (pay as you earn) because THEY (HRMC) made a mistake and taxed them too little DEMANDING they pay what they owe. A few people got letters saying they were getting money back but I think they were going to raise a lot more than they were paying out.

  5. My grandmother's spinal surgery cost approximately $100,000. Quit 'yer whining. You guys at least get something for those taxes. Our tax money is being stolen and redistributed to the filthy rich.

  6. Lets see. I did the math and my check gets hit with 38% deductions. That includes

Social Security (which I will never see)
    Federal Tax
    State Tax
    Health Insurance
    Dental insurance
    Medicare

I also have a 3.85% sales tax in my area, annual property and vehicle tax of about $2000. I also pay about $2000 a year in uncovered insurance cost but that has been as high as $6000 in bad year.

So you guys get slaughtered on sales tax but we got that insurance thing which could always bankrupt us. Other than that it seem almost equal.

  7. There's also the key difference in the States that insurance companies are allowed to search through your records and in order to find excuses to not pay for medical procedures and cancel your policy when you get sick. You're never safe here with private health insurance.

Oh, you went to the emergency room when you were 13 for a tension headache? I'm afraid we're not going to be able to help you with those injuries from the car accident this morning. It may be pre-existing condition. Sorry about your luck, but it was your own fault for withholding this vital information that impedes us from providing you with services. But still, thanks for all that cash you paid in to us!

  8. I am motherbleeming back! Bejeezus, it was like I fell off the face of the earth for a month. My skin went all itchy and blotchy on the last couple of days so it couldn't have been soon enough.

On the plus side, I had some seat covers made for my car for about £20, bargain.

What's EDF? Is that like the EDL? Monsly, you racist.

  9. So much has happened since you left man, the forum is closing at the end of August so you've not got much time left to spam the forum before we all move over to IGN's forum.

  10. I expect they will explode within one month!

  11. HOLD ON!

If your just back how comes when I turned on my PS3 a couple of days ago it said you were last logged on 2 days ago?

  12. I got my sister to log into my account to download all the beta trials for R3, U3, Journey etc.

She told me how monsly asked if I was back and she said no.

So is this place is going down the pan? The IGN boards? Seriously? I mean no offence but that place is retarded.

    Who's up for some gaming?

  13. I have to wait 'til payday to subscribe to spotify! Since my free trial ran out I've been having to slum it with itunes again, the shame!

  14. Arma is trying to wind you up, probably to get you to post 100 times a day.

  15. Do you really want a repeat of that? I could fill this place up with inane posts about what I find in my luggage and whatnot.

  16. Damn you Grim! I just wanted to see if he'd buy it, the results are inconclusive.

  17. What's with all this news I've heard of you batting for the other side now? All this stuff about lion king and aladdin.

    @grim Bodger and Badger now?

  18. Yeah I wanted a picture of you so that I didn't get too lonely while you were away.

  19. EDF is Earth Defence Force. Have a look and see what you think. The online seems pretty solid. Dint forget to check out my beautiful singing on SingStar.
