Oh man, I could have made a joke about us having a spat over spat, but I fear the moment has passed...
Does anyone remember when Channel 4 used to show anime late at night? I remember seeing something like, Legend of the four kings and one set in some neo japan with a blind orange mohawk man, effeminate guy with cheesewire in his ring and a guy in red with those trident things. The episode i saw had a building possessed by the corpse of one of its designers.
I remember that. I've got that amine too; I think it's called Cyber city. Let me google a sec.., Edit: yep, cyber city Oedo 808 is the full title
HOOOOOLY CRAP. So that's what it was called! I knew it had a 2 and an 8 in the title but that was it. O.O Time to watch the crap out of this whilst nostalgia still has effect.
I remember it being on Bravo but not channel 4. Bravo used to show almost nothing else on a Saturday when it was popular. Think I first notice it when they were showing guyver around 1995 or 1996.
Channel 4 in the mid-90s were the first place that really showcased anime over here; really helped it take off. I think Bravo got into it later; think they had a series I use to like but I'll be damned if I can remember its name. Had a young chap in it and some girl who was a bit like tiger or some such.
First time I saw a Ghibli film was on ITV of all places. They showed Laputa in the afternoon randomly back in the mid 90s, before channel 4 had shown anything. Always been my favourite film of theirs, not sure if seeing it first is why.
Those two are my most favourite ones and I have them on DVD. That one with all the cats in the cat world is good too.
I'm currently kicking ass on Soul Calibur 4! Playing special versus ranked matches I'm on a win streak that stands at 24. Nice.
I remember seeing Laputa on ITV way back then as well. But memory fails me as to whether it was a dub or a sub. I also remember watching an anime where they were in some sort of mechanoid mammoth or something...
First one I saw was like Totoro back in like the early 90s on Stars... I thought it was kids stuff (me being an all growed up 14 yr old ofc!!). That last movie they made I thought was pretty dumb. Love most of the rest of their stuff. Most awesome Totorro AMV- http://www.gametrailers.com/user-movie/my-obnoxious-neighbor/96637
I really don't remember that but we have always had cable so I probably wasn't watching much of Channel 4 back then. Had a very expensive evening yesterday. Spent £169 on having my windscreen washer pump replaced and they replaced the cap on my brake fluid reservoir for some reason AND I payed my car insurance up for the next year. Good thing I get paid next week.
Hmm, not sure, there's definitely a mammoth in that but I'm not sure if it's the same mammoth. On another note, anyone remember an anime with a timetravelling teapot?
Did anyone watch 3x3 Eyes? Channel 4 showed that and it was the only real anime I watched back in the day, all I remember is that I loved it.
