I pretty much know I'm giving into temptation even when I'm playing 'age appropriate' games. It's a religious issue ya'll just gotta give up and face the fact that your all just heretics and sinners :x. No but seriously, and PLEASE read this, I'll try to make it as unbiased and non-chauvanist (for lack of a better word... or even a REAL word but... you know..) as possible... the issue is NOT that this stuff is policed wrong the issue is that it's there all together. The issue is that no matter how 'age appropriate' it is we support the stuff and openly (in front of youngsters and anybody else that wants to see it) advertise our pleasure to anybody with access to a user review site. Children are human, don't you think they'd want to join in on the fun?? Seriously guys (and I didn't start it, if you wanna talk about PTA groups and church THIS is just their angle, the angle EVERYBODY seems to be ignoring, and no PTA wants to come out and say it cuz PTA and general public policy groups aren't supposed to be religious... but they are, this IS a Christian Country... even if the minority ie the politicians, are not). ANYWAY Seriously, this IS nothing but a religious and 'proper behaviour' issue. It's like the porn industry. It's 'age appropriate' will it EVER be widely accepted? HELL NO! In the eyes of SO MANY there is NO APPROPRIATE PORN :x I'm just saying games are headed the same direction. NOW! Since I've laid out for you the EXTREME left wing viewpoint and once again, bottom is, it will NEVER be ok (neither will general media :x either but thats a different issue). My viewpoint is, accept it (repent) I am a sinner and I sin :/ restraint not restrict. Utopia is unattainable, to appeal to the extreme left wingers is to basically renounce your humanity, pretty much unattainable. But taking part in videogames is just as much a sin as watching inappropriate movies... should it be outlawed? maybe, should it be toned down? Hell no! Restriction is acceptance of the 'necessary' evil and putting guidelines on it after creation. Restraint is like telling yourself not to do it in the first place, listening to your morales and restraining yourself from your 'carnal' issues. My thing is if it's there, the sin is made, might as well do it.
I don't think the violence in video games is particularly inappropriate, it's just that young, impressionable children who are likely to not have developed a moral code might be impressioned(?) by such games, hence the age limit. Once you're old enough to make adult decisions then you're old enough to have access to extreme, adult themed content. If people ban violent video games then they should have to ban violent films and TV shows. There's nothing wrong with enjoying seeing gory stuff, so long as it's fake... obviously. I played a hell of a lot of Mortal Kombat when I was young but not once did I ever feel the need to go around ripping people's heads off or dropping arcade cabinets on top of them. I noticed a lot of people made a fuss about the fact that the Norwegian maniac gunman played Modern Warfare 2. Who hasn't played Modern Warfare 2? No one mentioned any of the violent films he doubtless would have seen over the years, you don't exactly see people petitioning for Saving Private Ryan to be banned do you?
Keep telling yourself that xD See most folks (including myself) just don't want to see it happen, but to address the issue, ALL of these things are wrong. The issue will never be addressed. It can change, but to fully address it you'd piss a LOT of ppl off... some might even call you a zealot. I'm not goin there, that's not me. I'm just displaying the other side of this issue. We don't need zealots but in the same view we don't need to fight it either. I don't understand (but ?I DO understand where their coming from) either sides, just take it as it is. You might say 'but some ppl NEED to correct this issue right?' yes and that shouldn't be made public it's just another waste of time by the media, instigating nothing but more bigotry on either side of the issue.
You want to rob me of the right to play such amazing games as Gears of War and Grand Theft Auto? Why? Because it's a "sin"? What's the basis for wanting to stop people doing something they enjoy that hurts no-one?
