They gave my Mum Windows 7 (she also works for the University). She gave me one of her copies, that's why I have Windows 7 on my laptop : Heck my boss over in reprographics uses a couple of awesome looking Macs that blatantly weren't cheap.
I don't know how business licensing works on Mac software but Microsoft ones are not cheap. You need a license to run the OS, connect to a windows server, connect to an exchange server, connect to a SQL server (if you don't use per proc licensing) etc. When we purchased per processor licenses for SQL they were £4000 each! I think Exchange 2010 CAL's are about £370 EACH! That means for every user you have an inbox for you have to pay £370 to Microsoft. If you want to upgrade to the newest version you need to buy new CALs.
Probably a blown power supply. I bet they replace it and give you the same machine. 1360x768 is the actual resolution of many 720p displays. Nothing weird about it.
Nope. I saw Dan bring it in this morning and he spent ages trying to set it up to work with the 3 mental copiers in my room. It's most definitely a new machine. New monitor, new keyboard, new mouse. Just a new set up. It's even got Windows 7! No more XP for me thank God.
I'm about to have my jaw x-rayed. I bit into a mini sausage roll a few days ago and had intense pain in my lower right teeth at the back. The next day I couldn't open my mouth much without pain and my lower jaw was tender. I finally had enough yesterday and arranged a visit to an emergency dentists i.e. No need to register. This was the first time I've been to a dentist in over ten years and I was worried she might not like the condition of some of my teeth, only one caught her attention and might have to be removed, the dreaded wisdom tooth.
Never had any trouble with mine, they hurt when they came through but not a problem since. Still haven't had a single filling and my dentist is of the opinion that if I haven't needed them at my age I shouldn't in the future baring a drastic change in the way I eat and drink. I think our checkup will be due soon and my car tax 'demand' came through today, everything comes along at the same time. £165 this year so its gone up £5, its a lot of money when you consider I do less than 2000 miles a year but its handy to have a car. I think on average my car only sees the light of day once a week, the rest of the time it sits in my garage. It last came out exactly one week ago and that was only to pop to Sainsbury's.
I didn't go to the dentist for a long time but I was fine on my last check up, thankfully. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
Now that we are 'responsible' parents we go every 6 months without fail whereas before I might let it slip a couple of months.
I don't think we have a celebrity death thread here but Bob Holness has died... I am sure I heard a rumour a while ago that Blockbusters was coming back.
I really need to clear out my old PC cupboard at the office, look at the specs of this baby! Doesn't mention the CPU but I think its a 2.0 GHz P4 400MHz FSB 130nm POWERHOUSE! Almost 10 years old now and the sad thing is I remember ordering them . Will have been here 11 years next week. I had single PII system laying around last year but I think I got rid of it and there was a 386 somewhere but I think that is gone now too.
No, I had enough living there with my old flat mate. Since he has moved out its been nice and quiet and had some nice time on my own. I have a guidance Councillor who is helping me with my problems at the moment and who is also now helping me with housing. He spoke to the council yesterday and they said it would be better for me to stay here, get the people to get court notice to evict me and it will help more for the council helping me get somewhere. I got him to ring up the landlords earlier and so far so good. So I brought my PS3 back.
I thought the Back To The Future game was for kids but I've heard them say shit three times just in the first episode!
