    I'm using tapatalk; bought it earlier. Getting use to it; seems better in some ways but I've had a few issues where I'm unsure how it does things.

    Yeah I wasn't clicking on that bit. I guess I was doing it wrong lol. I think I'll get tapatalk but I'm still not sure what it is that is does exactly. I'm guessing it just makes browsing forums smoother and easier on a phone, would that be accurate?

    Looks that way, as I say I am refusing to spend £1.99 to talk to you scoundrels so I am not bothering at the momet.

    it's not worth it if you'll only be using it on one forum. you should be fine without it especially if you don't surf forums often on your phone.

    that's pretty much what tapatalk is. It has its own entire interface for the forum in an app. android web browsers handle text boxes horribly so an app like this is a godsend. it might not be as horrible on the safari browser in ios.

    I'm using it too. Shame you can't see people's post count but browsing the forum seems much quicker now.

    Tapatalk is nice, but the place still needs major work on the PC side of things.

    I have no control on the server side of things. No real control anyway. That's all Ichiban.

    And the control panel for this forum software doesn't give you a lot of options unfortunately. It's extremely basic compared to punBB and laid out in a confusing fashion. I can't even find a way to pin links to the top of the page for instance.

    I really wish punBB had been more mobile friendly. Because I feel like we gutted a lot of the things that made the forum nice to get a mobile friendly version working.

    So its all on Ichi to code everything to suit our needs? Do you have any access to the code yourself or do you just get the control panel? Being a top mod I assumed you had access to everything. Saying that if I am not mistaken your a doctor right so editing lines of code probably isn't your thing anyway.

    To be honest for the moment it works, we can post and we can find new posts so its not the end of the world. If changes take a while to come through that's understandable, he is only one guy.

    Tapatalk seems like a nice way to browse this forum from my sofa on my phone which is a big bonus for me. You may have noticed that I never really posted outside of work hours but now I have an app that makes it easier I may find myself posting out of hours rather than just lurking.

    I could look up how to do things, but yes, you are correct in assuming that even if I had total control, I wouldn't really know what I was doing. My background is in medicine and biology, not computers. It's his server anyway, so he should have the control.

    I'm sure things will get sorted out. And it's actually kind of impressive that transferring over the posts and users went as smooth as it did.

    I never really planned to be an admin of PVC. I just didn't want to see the community die out a year ago when Chairmansteve bailed. Now that things are more stable, there are probably people on here who would be much better at running the site than me.

    I would assume that there is some code out there that is designed to migrate from one to another. If I remember correctly when we set up the new forum Ichi said it runs on mySQL so I would assume the database is still completely the same but we now just have a new front end accessing it.

    That's the good thing about SQL and its derivatives, its simple yet powerful and once you learn the table structure getting information from and into it is a doddle.
