Dark Souls: Demon Souls Sequel

  1. I don't think they drop from the hollow chaps in the area, infact I am almost certain they don't. The undead merchant near the Undead Berg bonfire might have some normal fire bombs, don't think he has the black ones.

To be honest the Taurus Demon isn't too bad so you should survive without, taking him on melee is easily doable.

  2. I don't remember seeing a merchant. Hmm, that may change things if he has anything decent to sell.

  3. At the bonfire in Undead Berg go down the stairs to your right as if you were going back to the start but look to the left and there is a building with 2 hollow on top with shields. To the left of them behind some boxes you will a staircase, break the boxes and go down. There is a balcony opposite the stairs and the merchant is out there.

He has some nice stuff and IF you want to kill him you can get the Uchigatana. I personally wouldn't kill him as he is handy for arrows etc and can sell you stuff like the bottomless box and the item to repair your weapons at bonfires early on.

  4. This game really has been made a lot easier, took down the Capra Demon last night on my first try. Before you could get 1 hit killed just entering the fog and you had to avoid all of his hits. Last night I was able to block everything he threw at me with a simple hollow warrior shield and hit him back with the drake sword. The guy is so easy now it isn't even funny.

The Moonlight Butterfly almost went down on my first run of attacks too. She only needed 2 hits on at the second change to kill her.

Lots of people must have complained this game was too hard but now it is far too easy.

  5. I just had a little go again and on my first try I killed the Taurus Demon. He was pretty easy actually. I just blocked his attacks, regained stamina hit him a few times then rinse and repeat. I am now at the dragon so I need to get enough arrows to take his tail off.

Not used a bow yet, how do you 3rd person aim it?

  6. Assuming it is assigned to R1. Press R1 to draw it and then press L1. Fire with R1 and put away with L1.

  7. I figured it out. Managed to take its tail off and get that beasty Drake sword too. A nice extra 120 attack upgrade from my last sword. I also got that axe from the Taurus Demon.

  8. I am really starting to enjoy this game. I just got to the part where you ring the first bell after that battle against the two Gargoyles. I was expecting it to be hard as everyone said it was at the level but I found it easy and did it first time.

  9. The gargoyles aren't that difficult. You'll find the bosses get much tougher later in the game.

  10. Well I put some more work into getting back to where I was before my PS3 failed last night. Didn't really make any progress as such but I did kill the Hellkite Dragon for 10,000 souls and the hydra for 5,000 souls so that I could purchase the item to open the door in the forest. I think I will do a bit of grinding now to get my strength to 33 as I managed to get the rare drop the Dark Knight Halberd which should make things a bit easier.

Got a couple of twinkling titanite so it is already at +2. Seeing as you can get the chaps in the forest to commit suicide pretty easily its a good place to grind around 6000 souls in 2-3 minutes.

Once I am able to wield this I will go and either kill the gaping dragon or take the back door and go after Quelaag.

Although I haven't put much into endurance I do have Havels ring so wielding it wont be a problem.

  11. Gaping dragon dead! Quelaag dead!

Dark knight halberd +2 made them both a pushover. Could have sworn there were 2 fire keeper souls in blighttown but only found one, will have to look it up.

Next Sens Fortress and then Anor Londo, not looking forward to that archer bit in the later at all.

Might go to the effort to get bits ready for the fury sword but this halberd is very good.

  12. Back to where I was now, Smough and Ernstein are dead and so is Sif so I can move on to the big 4 bosses.

This is where I am moving into the unknown so I expect to start dying now. In new londo I even managed to get past that archer first time!

My Black Knight Halberd +5 is devastating to enemies, I have Quelaag's Furysword but am not using it at all now.

  14. I am back on track, as there's really nothing to play at the moment.

I picked up where I had been blocked few months ago, at Capra Demon. I've beaten him and explored the Depths, tried the Dragon once or twice but since I got cursed by basilisks, I also tried the New Londo Ruins (you can engage ghosts when cursed), only to find out that the path is to narrow to not to follow sooner or later.

I also explored the Darkroot Basin, there's a big Hydra there, seems easy but I've lost twice.

There are two possible directions to advance.

I could beat this dragon and get access to Blighttown. Or I could still try the New Londo Ruins.

  15. Don't bother with new Londo, no point as you are missing 2 vital things to finish it.

If you have the master key you can skip the depths and go straight to blighttown. Fact is you really need to finish blighttowm next and ring the bell to progress.

Once you have done send fortress and anor London then you will have more choice over what you want to do next to fill the lord vessell (new londo included).

The Hydra isn't too bad, just hang around in the shallows and it wont hit you.

  16. In fact, I can access Blighttown from the VoD, there are a couple of big blue guys with clubs (no problem) and then I enter Blighttown. However, after what you've written, I think I will focus on this Dragon to get to Blighttown and, yes, ring this second bell.

Thanks, I will report my progress in few days/weeks.

  17. My first encounter with the Capra Demon really pissed me off. I wasn't expecting to be rushed like that. That thing doesn't hold back.

  18. Re: Re: Dark Souls: Demon Souls Sequel

Since they patched the game the capra demon is pretty easy. Pre patch he got me a few times, even when you were prepared you could walk through the fog and get killed in seconds if you didn't get out of the way in a split second.

  19. I've past the Hydra, explored the forest a little and got the Elite Knight armor. I've also farmed few levels so that I can finally hold the Dark Knight sword in one hand which gives a great combo with Knight Shield.

However, trying to read what upgrades are available I've accidentally smashed the smith (the one near the church above the garden). This was a huge mistake and it turned out I had to spent some amount of time on farming so that I could buy the absolution for a dozen thousands of souls.

Then I went to the depths to kill the dragon and get the key to the Blighttown. It was suprisingly easy. I got 25000 souls but since you can't return to the bonfire (or can you?), I had to go to Blighttown.

Unfortunately, I was not prepared for a new type of enemy, a fast moving bastard which is easy to kill but leaves you with the toxin. Bad luck, I had only one piece of grass to cure the toxin and then I died because of being infected by a second enemy. I lost all souls. I believe the bonfire is somewhere close to the entrance but was not able to find it.

The second attempt to return there and recover all lost souls ended up prematurely in the room with basilisks. An unfortunate move and I got cursed (which should not happen if you are careful) and I died because of the curse.

Not only then I lost 25000 souls but also I am now again with the half of my HP.

Great game to test your patience as I am now not sure whether to put it away again.

  20. If your getting really stressed then I suggest you go into blighttown the other way via the Valley of the Drakes, kill the 3 fat guys, go down all the ladders and the water wheel. When at the bottom head left and hug the wall and you will come to a tunnel, in here is a bonfire. Then exit the tunnel the way you came, head all the way right and you will see a large hill covered in spider webs, go there avoiding the big guys that throw rocks and into the tunnel, at the end is the boss you need to beat to ring the second bell. Blighttown is horrible so this is the quickest way to get through if you don't like it.

You could have gone back to the bonfire from the dragon by going to the other end of the room where the hole to Blighttown is an opening the short cut back to the start of the depths. Going the front way into Blighttown you need to kill quite a lot of enemies to find a bonfire, infact until you get to the point where you have to start going down you won't find one and the one I am thinking of you have to take a leap accross a gap to get to so it can be risky anyway. Farther down is the one in the tunnel from the bit above so it takes even longer. I never go the front way anymore.

Seriously I would use the back door and get Blighttown out of the way as fast as you can. The areas after this are all much nicer.
