  1. Does she fight with paper too?? if so awesome xD

  2. I think the crappiest weapon I had to use with her so far was a Flimsy Stick. I kid you not, that was the name of the weapon.

  3. paper! AWESOME

  4. This reminds me so much of FarCry2 that I can't even contemplate a purchase... Lot's of problems with the PC version apparently, stuttering when using k+m (not with 360 controller though) and narrow FOV being the main ones. Shit like that ruins games for me.

  5. Far Cry 2 is down there with Duke Nukem Forever as one of the worst games I've played. And this does indeed look a lot like FC2.

  6. Yeah, I've read about the people having issues although I have yet to experience any technical issues myself. There's still plenty of people that are enjoying it.

What's funny is that my system is relatively dated for the most part too (radeon 4870 1GB). I'm not having any stuttering using kb+m although the mouse sensitivity in the game menus is off, but is fine in-game.

For perspective. I have a friend (one of the guys that did the 4 copy purchase with me on Steam) that bought Far Cry 2 and hated it. He's actually enjoying Dead Island. Go figure?

  7. That looks shit, tell me that's some mod and not how the combat actually works in Dead Island. Reminds me of Bulletstorm, and that was shit.

  8. I'm pretty much convinced at this point that Khaid will buy anything with zombies in it.

I could poop in a cereal box and write "zombies" on it and he'd probably give me at least $10 for it.

  9. No, they edited the game files and made a hilarious fist of the north star parody. They did something similar with L4D.

But no, this game is actually really good. It's one of the best survival horror games I've played with character development. It's literally borderlands gameplay style. Alot of people are saying they wished melee combat in Elder Scrolls was modeled after Dead Island.

  10. I'm coming around, my friend has the game so I may play it at his place before buying.

It's not exactly hard to beat Oblivion for melee combat... Unfortunately Skyrim doesn't look like it has improved all that much either.

  11. I might get it. Problem is that Batman and Skyrim are coming out real soon.

  12. And saving for those two is more of a priority!

  13. You'll find some funky stuff going on in the game. For example, the main quest cut scenes show the group as a whole even if you're playing by yourself. Driving physics are a bit off. You can plow down street signs but something like a sand castle on the beach will put your vehicle to a halt.

Also, make sure that the first thing you do is change the action key bind. By default, it's F. But for some ungodly reason, Techland decided to also make that the weapon swap button also F (which for some reason, they don't let you modify either). If you don't change it, whenever you pick up a weapon from the ground, it'll automatically swap to that. And if your inventory is full, it'll drop your current weapon.

  14. For me, saving for multiplayer games with coop is more priority. I have lonely issues. 8(

  15. How does this stuff pass testing? Do they only test with gamepads these days because you know, kb+m... pfft, that shit is so 1990's.

  16. Just beat the game last night. This post won't contain spoilers.

First with my gripes. The game pales in comparison to Borderlands with difficulty in coop. It doesn't scale difficulty to the amount of players that join the game. Horrible decision. With 2 player coop, it's passable. But with 3-4 players? We beat the last boss in 5 sec with 3 players. And that's not mentioning that one of my friends only got off one kick, so really it was 2 players killing the last boss in 5 sec.

Also, the story they gave Jin was pretty big in the game. Pretty much the biggest story they gave any character, yes, including your character's story. They didn't really conclude her story very well at all. This can't even be fixed in the DLC.

Still needs heavy patching. I broke the fast travel quite a few times by going in and out of inventory and quest logs a few times. Had to exit and enter the game to fix. Still clipping bugs on enemies. They'd be behind a door and they can get in front of it (although immobile) and can still hit you. There was also a gamebreaking clipping bug from one of the infected in the arena in the jungle. Needed to kill that last infected to be able to progress. But he fell into the ground. If you looked at the right angle and had a long enough weapon, you could hit him, or if you threw a molotov. Still bad taste.

The game could've used alot more scripted sequences or cut scenes for story progression. Not enough holy shit moments. Needs more parts like the opening church sequence in Moresby.

The good.. Depending on how you view this, I liked how the game scales with your level. It makes it almost pointless to be high level though. But I enjoyed how you're pretty much always in danger wherever you are.

The atmosphere was excellent throughout the game. weapon mods and ammo creation made the game much more interesting.

  17. I haven't had any fast travel glitches and the zombies behind fences/doors thing I could only do once, turned out quite useful for taking out a thug as I could kick him through a fence.

Storywise, I haven't really noticed one...

  18. This game scored a 4 out of 10 in the latest Edge magazine. What's that about, eh?

  19. The game review scores are all over the place if you look at critic reviews. You have to pick each one apart to see where the flaws are.

I think most people agree the game atmosphere and gameplay are awesome, but there are some questionnable bugs and game design decisions that you run across.

chi, it's most likely due to pc and ps3 differences we're seeing on those specific bugs. that infected falling into the ground was literally the only time I saw that. But it happened at a key part of the game so it stood out.
