Destiny

Thorn is ok in PvP but useless in PvE. It only holds 6 shots and reloads slower than octagenarian with ankle weights. I recieved The Devil You Know ages ago for getting rank 3 with the vanguard, it holds 12 shots and reloads at least 4 times faster than Thorn. I'll take it over Thorn in PvE anyday. I don't use hand cannons in PvP but yeah I've heard the poison preventing shields regenerating is handy.

I only use fusion rifles in PvP anyway.

 

I'm have been using Thorn with a Gunslinger Hunter. It reloads pretty quickly as a result of the perks the Gunslinger gets. I actually haven't tried Thorn in PvP yet. I've been using it for higher level PvE missions and testing out the effects of the DoT effect. Enemies with shields were struggling with DoT effects of both my solar damage grenades and Thorn. I can keep shield recharge gimped perpetually that way.

Also, Atheon's Epilogue has nearly identical stats to Dr. Nope but with void damage and some very good perks. As a general rule, I'm really not crazy about low impact weapons. I have most of the upgrades that would influence PvP, and I'm finding my Vanquisher VIII to be noticeably better. On the other hand, in PvE missions that involve strong shields, especially Vault of Glass (Epilogue gets an extra boost against Oracles in addition to doing void damage), Atheon's Epilogue looks to be among the best choices.

I don't expect to find a non-exotic auto rifle that is a match in PvP for my Vanquisher VIII any time soon. Other than Suros Regime and a few others you can get from engrams and much luck from RNG, I don't think any other auto rifle matches it. It's been very satisfying to follow getting taken down by a Suros Regime wielder by tracking them down and start taking them out just as often. New Monarchy has some outstanding weapons. I'm buying Crusader I this week and Prestige IV next time I have enough Crucible marks.

I think I've got some excellent gear for tackling the high level missions now. Epilogue, Icebreaker, and a FWC rocket launcher called The Cure (just got it from Nightfall mission) give me void, solar, and arc damage. I have two pieces of raid gear that give me additional VoG bonuses and a fully upgraded Apotheosis Veil helmet. I'm down for another run in VoG if you guys are.

 

Yeah I want to get some more stuff but can we try to start a bit earlier this time, finishing at 1:20 killed me the next day. I am not as young as I used to me....

 

One of these days I'll join you guys in the raid. Whenever someone asks me I'm either busy or I can't be arsed, the vault is a commitment to be sure. The first (and last) time I tried it it did not go well.

Yeah but we are professionals, 3 hours first time in a group containing 3 raid n00bs and only 4 wipes on the last boss as we learnt the ropes, can't complain at all.

 

Anyone need to run through the weekly mission for coins? I can't get above level 27 until Tuesday (works out to 64 marks at most, 1 short ), so solo is pretty rough on level 28. I'd really like to get the full 9 coins for my Hunter. I maxed Gunslinger an need as many coins as possible for Bladedancer gear. My exotic helmet doesn't suit the Bladedancer at all.

BTW, bought Suros Regime. Red Death was my #1 target, but I'll take it.

 

Is exp shared between skills and weapons/armor? For instance, if one of my subclasses is maxed, will my exp go more towards my gear than if I'm also working on my other subclass?

 

I actually got a weapon out of an engram, Dead Orbit's LMG Deviant Gravity-A. Mine unfortunately does void damage instead of arc damage like the vendor version, but otherwise it's pretty good. I killed multiple people in PvP with it while it was completely unranked/ unleveled. LMGs are actually pretty decent in the Crucible. I hadn't really tried them because up until this point I've never had a good LMG until now. I found a hiding place near a control point and murdered several people in a row. It apparently pissed them off because multiple people attacked the spot I was hiding simultaneously with a barrage of grenades to end my hot streak. At least 4 to 5 swarmed me, which is nearly the entire opposing team.

I've been trolled by most legendary engrams; they usually end up turning into shards or something of that nature.

I also bought the Crusader I scout rifle, which is pretty awesome in PvE. It's really stable and accurate, and like other New Monarchy weapons, it's also very pleasing aesthetically. While testing it out on a patrol on Earth, I was able to hit things I could barely see through the red dot sights. I initially didn't think it was going to register a hit on one of those little Shank robots far in the distance, but it exploded.

 

I'm out tonight, both in terms of Destiny and in real life.

 

I definitely need some help with the weekly stuff. I just tried level 28 weekly solo with my Hunter and couldn't kill the Nexus boss by myself. I kept getting swarmed by minotaurs. I need at least 1 or 2 people to help with the Vex minions or I get overrun.

I'm up for a raid run as well. I fully upgraded Atheon's Epilogue to deal with oracles.

BTW, I got a Silvered Hushwind-D and have been using it in the Crucible. It's quite good. I think I may have had better games with it than Suros Regime; I kept getting my kills stolen because of the fire rate. I had several Unsung Hero medals for getting so many assists.

 

I'm still level 21 so can't help. Spending 2 hours to go up an eighth of a level sucked my will to play right away.

 

The world we live in, fewer games are exclusive but more of the content is. Look at CoD, loads of that ends up being XBOX first.

 

Having had time to think about this I am done with Destiny for now, maybe...

£20 is just too much for something that is going to get stale quickly if the main game is anything to go by. Imagine you were not a PS gamer, you would be getting 3 missions, 1 strike and 1 raid for half the cost of the main game but this is only 1/5th of the content you got with the £40 game?

Also £20 in the UK and $20 in the US? Talk about ripping us off, that's $32, Bungie can fuck right off.

I currently have no desire to play Destiny, when you asked me tonight Chi I just couldn't get up any enthusiasm for it and digesting the DLC news has made it worse. I mean raise the level cap by 2? Why even bother as levels do fuck all anyway as the game scales everything!

This DLC is worth £10 tops and I refuse to pay any more, until it is £10 or less I won't be buying it. Yes the Raid was fun the other week but that was because it was the first time we played it, I bet just like the strikes it gets more and more dull when you play it 100 times.

 

Ghahahahahh! You're like me now, all miserable! Ghahahaha! I shall now develop a love of Destiny from pure spite.

 

This whole in-game/app purchasing & pay to continue will be the end of gaming as we know it. I blame Mafia Wars and Candy Crush, they've ruined everything.

 

I got Hard Light from a nightfall mission, and it's one of the most enjoyable weapons I've used so far. The Suros Regime seems rather bland and dull by comparison. I will be maxing Hard Light soon.

For whatever reason, this game constantly give me additional copies of Bad Seed Down and The Comedian, although no Comedian I've got so far had Field Scout. Thus, I'll probably still need to buy it with marks even though I got 2 copies of it within the past week or so.

Also, I hadn't realized it, but I have apparently defeated VoG on Hard. My Warlock raid gloves are the Hard set. I've had crap luck with rewards lately. I keep getting Chatterwhite instead of weapons or armor.
