Dragon Age: Inquisition

  1. Leliana did have romance options during dialogue on occasion. I never tried following through on them, so I can't claim to know if it leads anywhere.

  2. I read a review saying it was possible but now looking it up I see it's not an option. I guess that makes sense though. She was a love interest in Origins and that could conflict with the current story. I watched one video where she says she and the Hero of Ferelden are still together. It would be weird if she was cheating on you with you.

  3. Little late to the party but I have finally started. Went with a human archer rogue.

Done the first bit and now spent a very long time wandering around Haven reading stuff and trying to understand other bits. Not sure I get the weapon upgrading bit yet, I have some things but can't seem to apply them to anything but sure it will come to me.

Like any Bioware game you spend a lot of time listening and reading.

  4. Not every weapon can use an upgrade. Most ordinary ones can't. If a weapon can use an upgrade or rune it will say it in the description. What you really want are the weapon and armor schematics. Those allow you to build your own stuff. The trick is to find schematics that are of a higher level than you are. You can use any material to build the weapon but better materials make better weapons. Iron is at the bottom. Dragon bone is at the top. Armor uses fabric as well so make sure you collect that.

  5. Human archer rogue? You already need to start over.

  6. Bwahahaha!

  7. Should I just play through story missions to start with until I can unlocked a specialisation or should I do more side quests early?

I've done a few things in the hinterlands but barely scratched it and am now 4 hours in.

  8. It's a tough call. alterego and I discussed earlier how you can out level the main story if you're not careful. But at the same time if you blaze through the story you may feel that most of the side quest are pointless. I did most of the side quest first and found the final boss battles to be a bit easy. It didn't bother me too much.

  9. I seem to be finding a never ending supply of side quests, I finish one and another 3 pop up. 5 hours in and done maybe 8 hinterlands side quests and opened 1/4-1/3 of the map, maybe?

Bumped into a dragon too, ran away.

Think I will continue side questing for now, can't seem to stop myself. The one thing I don't like is equipping gear, I seem to find lots and it wastes so much time keep going in to see if it is better.

  10. Well there's probably 60 hours of side quest content so yeah it's a lot. The main story line is 30 to 40 hours.

The gear is a bit of a pain. I just tried to memorize what everyone had but it's hard with so many companions. Eventually you'll be crafting gear that's better than anything you can find and you wont be bothered by it as much. It will be interesting to see if you find any powerful bows. I only had one archer and I could never find a good bow for her.

I loved the water in this game.

  11. The War Table tells you what the recommended level range is for the main story missions, so that's a good general reference for side quests etc, especially when you're in the earlier stages of the game at Level 1-12. I found myself not caring as much about whether I was over leveled after that point. I'm at 111 hours now and just finished the Winter Palace mission, which means I'm REALLY taking my time with the main story.

bfun: there are some good bows to be found, but there's also a particular Masterwork schematic that will make life easier later on. I just feel like Rogue is the least effective character to double up in the party, so if your main character is a Rogue then you're going to miss out on some of the better conversational party members.

Tiny little peek at the bow I'm talking about...

  12. Funny lookin' bow

  13. 23 hours in and pretty much completely cleared the hinterlands. Level 12 and did have a go at the dragon, got it to half health before I died.

Done one or two things in crestwood and on Cassandras quest line but not really touched any of the other areas. Going to be a long time playing this still.

  14. Having a wizard with the revival spell is pretty much a necessity to beat the dragon. Not sure if you have that yet at level 12.

  15. I can have it but I don't, I will go for it next.

Haven't really seen a need for it yet as I have been ripping through enemies. I have Cole setup as an assassin with 2 daggers each with 300+ DPS so he takes things down pretty quickly whilst Cassandra tanks them. I found a really good dagger schematic but I can't remember where, built 2 of them slightly differently to give Cole loads of stat boosts.

  16. Yeah the spell is kind of expensive to get and you probably only need it for less than 10 fights if you include the dragons. Since the dragons are optional and can be done later on when you're uber you may only need the spell for less than 5 fights. But you do have a bunch a mages so it doesn't hurt to give it to one of them.

Cole will never have a shortage of good daggers. It was the most common powerful weapon I found throughout the game. Of course I found that annoying since I never used Cole.

  17. Completely ignored your advice and went after the level 13 dragon in Crestwood without revive and it died.

Got loads of gear including some dragon bone. Noticed a thing pop up and say 1/10 dragons, does that mean dragon bone is limited and I should only use it on the best stuff?

  18. It is limited, and dragons don't always provide the same types/amounts of crafting materials. However, you don't necessarily need any of it. There are a lot of other materials in the game that are just as important, if not more important, than anything the dragons drop.

  19. I think dragon bones give the highest level of protection against fire. So if that's what you want then they are great. I suppose dragon bone armor would be most useful when fighting dragons. I never used them for anything.

  20. The many deaths of Iron Bull...
