He does seem to die a lot. I suppose he's rather vulnerable rushing into combat without guard or stealth.
Blackwall seemed a bit upset that he hadn't seen the grey warden stuff I found so far and as he had anothet quest in Storm Coast I have swapped him for Cassandra. I was using her as my tank but his specialisation means that he is actually a better option it seems. He seems to be setup in a way to stop anything getting past him so I will see how he does by the time I finish the coast. Cassandra still has the better gear equip for now but I did build him some very good gear, the only difference is I don't have an amazing one handed schematic. Cassandra has a purple one hand I found which is capable of 192DPS whereas the one I built blackwall is only 150ish. If I swap them out long term I will take the weapon off her. I havent spec'ed them too differently in normal stuff but it is the specialisation that makes them so different. Although she had some stuff to protect the party he seems completely orientated on it. I assumed he was going to be DPS when I got him but now I have Iron Bull it seems that is him.
That was a particularly rare type of death for Iron Bull. When the dragon died, it fell on top of him and finished him off.
I made the mistake of using Blackwall as a berzerker early-on. He wasn't very good at it and was relegated to doing carvings in the Skyhold barn for the rest of the game.
Cassandra and Blackwall were almost identical in my game. I limited them to taunt and guard powers. I started with Blackwall but eventually got bored with him and finished the game with Cassandra.
I took him to the dragon that killed me in the hinterlands in place of Cassandra. He didn't take any damage from it at all, in the end Cole and Solas were dead from the dragonlings so it was just him tanking and me doing damage. The thing was attacking him non stop and his health bar didn't move. We were level 13 and it was 12 but he made what I couldn't do at 12 with Cassandra a piece of cake and he has slightly inferior gear on. 2 dragons down now and I have cleared all 4 of the areas on the right map. There is another area in the storm coast I can't go to to get red lyrium but assume that comes later. I have one quest in Hinterlands with the human male mage but I will go do that later. Moved into the other side, seems to ve 6 areas here. Gone to the one where Hawke apparently is first, western approach? 32 hours to get this far, not touched the main quest since I got to Skyhold.
My first dragon battle was Backwall vs the dragon for 15 minutes. Everyone else died and it was just him and the dragon building guard.
Well he made it easier than Cassandra but I have only taken out one at level 12 and one at level 13 so probably not the hardest ones in the game.
Went to have a standard filling this morning and it ended up I needed a root canal, which then ended up to three as I had three roots with this one tooth, which was weird. Yeah it was not fun at all. It was made slightly better as I had a brand new dentist which I did not know about but it was a young women which was nice for a change.
Finally. Finished. Hunting. For. Shards. The rewards are quite nice, I have to say. Close to going for the wrap-up on the main story, although I may try to finish off the other dragons at Judicael's Crossing.
You got every shard? Damn. I suspect that the last dragon at the crossing might be the hardest in the game but I could be wrong. I never killed it.
Yeah, I think the Highlands Ravager in the pit is supposed to be the toughest. Haven't gone up against it yet, but the Shard rewards should help me if I try. I'm not sure I'm that motivated though. I think I'm ready to finish the game, and I don't really want to kill all the dragons.
Shards in the Oasis really pissed me off, so much climbing IP up and falling down. Have 2 1/2 areas left to do. Nearly done with graves then hissing wastes and enterprise de lun? Then will be onto cleaning up companion quests and then onto story. Not done ANY story since I got to Skyhold. I have one quest in hinterlands but I don't have a plant I need and I need more share for the final challenge in Oasis but they won't take long once I have them. Just hit 50 hours, 4 or 5 dragons down too.
I won't lie, I've sped up a bit, getting a bit repetitive just doing side quests for hours on end. Bloodborne out next week, need to get on with this game now!
