Elder Scrolls V Skyrim

  1. the amount of arrows I get from looting bodies and picking up around random areas in town doesn't require me to buy any arrows. it seems so far the only reason I would need to buy them would be if i want the best damage arrows available.. but i assume you'd be able to craft them later on? i put a ton of my perk points into archery so it takes only 2 to 3 shots for me to kill something right now.

  2. I've been smithing a lot recently and I've not had the option to make arrows, at least I've not seen an option. Two hints for smithing:
    1. Making jewellery seems to be by far the fastest way to improve your smithing skills but requires silver and gold ingots.
    2. I've read there's a spell that lets you improve base metals. So in theory you could turn steel ingot into silver, and silver ingots into gold. Handy for jewellery making.

  3. yea, i found a transmute tome on my redguard character.. will see if i get the same luck on my wood elf

  4. I really enjoyed the Dark Brotherhood quests in Oblivion. It appeals to my cruel nature and thrist for blood.

  5. Gah, I just wondered into a tomb and decided to help out some poor ghost with his issues. Turns out his issues involved over 7 Dragur Death lords (At one point three at once) and a powerful Lich...

When I was cornered by two Death lords and a Scourge I realised how much I love being able to summon two Dremora Lords for support.

  6. I’ve developed a special combat move for my mage which I call, Run Away Run Away. I’ve noticed that many tombs have doors that can close. So if I run into a difficult baddy I run away and shut the door! Then when the baddy lets his guard down I open the door and slap him upside the head and run away again.

  7. What's a quick way to level enchantment? Also, where can you get free or cheap soul gems so you can enchant stuff?

That archery leveling trick/easter egg thing is pretty awesome. I got to level 50 for just a few hundred gold.

    Also, free house. Heyooo!

  8. Cheating bastard.

  9. I wouldn't really call it cheating. It's not a multiplayer game. You're also not using cheat codes. I would call these exploits or maybe easter eggs.

  10. Abusing a broken game mechanic to get free stuff instead of having to earn it is cheating in my book. But hey, I already paid for mine so I'm a bit biased.

  11. It's not like I can't buy a house. I got a ton of money when I killed the emperor. I'd just rather get one for free.

Also, the archery thing isn't free. You still lose like 10 or 20 gold every time you do it. Which makes me think it was an intentional easter egg on Bethesda's part and not a glitch. Especially considering archery is one of the main ways to take down a dragon.

Easter Eggs are awesome and make games more fun. I mean who actually played Contra back in the day without using the up up down down, etc trick?

  12. I think the big issue with Elder Scroll exploits is they can turn an 80 hour game into a 10 hour game. If it gets too easy it isn’t fun. How many people lost interest in Oblivion after they made their first set of invisible armor? It’s not a problem for most games but it seem Elder Scrolls always includes ways to tilt the system and ruin the game.

The last baddy I fought was tossing dragon shouts at me. The nerve of him.

If you can get into the magic college there are plenty to be stolen. There is also an enchanter trainer there.

  13. I finally found out how to quick swap your favorites. Pull up the favorites menu and hit a number key (I believe it only works 1 through 8) to bind it to that key.

This helps for us people playing with no manuals. :p

  14. I've been looking all over the place for ages for some more orchalcum ingots to make and upgrade a full set of orcish armour and I just found that War Maiden's has acquired some. So now I'm running about in a full set of "flawless" orcish armour. Trouble is now my smithing is on the 70's I've only got a few levels left before I make my ebony armour set as I already have like 15 ebony ingots. I'll soon be making my own dragon armour and I'll be kicking ass all over the place.

  15. I'm level 30 now. I think I've played the game enough to make this bold statement.

Skyrim is the best game I have ever played.

Final Fantasy X almost made it a decade as my favourite game, 9 years.

  16. What about FFX in HD with trophys? :p

  17. Meh... I have Skyrim now, I might not even get FFX HD anymore.

  18. I stayed up almost all night last night playing it. The Dark Brotherhood quest line was really good. I was so immersed in the game I completely lost track of time and when I looked at the clock it was 5AM. I can't remember the last time I did that with a game. Maybe Half-Life 2 when it first came out? Also, when was the last time everyone in the forum was playing the same game?

Skyrim is a seriously awesome game. From what I've played this is easily a 9.5 or 10. Great quests, great story, great music, absolutely beautiful and huge game world, tons of content, runs great on my system (never drops below 60FPS). I'm having a hard time thinking of anything negative to say about it. Sure it's a little glitchy here or there and there are some exploits like we talked about earlier, but that's bound to happen in a game this huge. Bethesda took everything they learned from Oblivion and FO3 and used it to make a badass game.

On another note, does anyone know what the level cap is in this game? That would greatly help me plan out my character. I'm at level 13 now.

  19. I'm not playing this yet, price was high for me after buying Pes 2012 and Uncharted 3 at full price.

  20. Skyrim sells 3.5 million copies in 2 days.

Impressive considering the competition this time of year and that it's a single player game.
