  3. Has anyone started the civil war quest line yet? Which side did you pick?

I'm probably going to go with the Stormcloaks since the Empire seems like it's corrupt and decaying at this point. They also tried to behead you at the beginning of the game which was douchey.

  4. Everyone seems to be siding with the stormcloaks. I think I'm the only person who's joined the legion. The imperial army might have tried to kill me but the leader of the stormcloaks killed the high king. Anyway I'll join the rebels with one of my other characters. I'd always wanted to be in the legion in Oblivion and I wasn't going to miss this opportuinty.

  5. I also didn't like that since they did so badly in the great war, the Empire are now just puppets for the Thalmor, who are the real bad guys. The Thalmor even say when you visit the embassy that they'll probably just wipe the Empire out when they no longer have any use for them.

But yeah, I'll probably still play as the Empire on another playthrough.

  6. I've been having some serious problems with Skyrim. I've noticed a lot of other people are having the same issue too. After I've been playing for a couple of hours the game starts to stutter, badly. It becomes all choppy and eventually unplayable. The only way to remedy this is to turn the ps3 off and then back on, but that's really annoying. It was stuttering a couple of minutes ago and when I entered my house in whiterun it crashed while it was autosaving. Luckily the save wasn't corrupted but it easily could have been. I've read this only seems to occur once your save file exceeds 6mb, mine's about 8.5mb now. Apparently bethesda are aware of this as the community has been quite vocal, especially on twitter, and they say that it should be fixed (amongst other issues on other platforms) with a multi platform patch they're working on. Hopefully we'll see this patch this year.

    Anyone else having this problem?

  7. I also had this problem with Oblivion and FO3, which used the same engine. It occurs when you have too many saves. You need to delete all but maybe four or five saves and it should go away. I wouldn't wait up for a patch considering this issue has been around since 2006.

  8. I only ever have 1 main save, there's 3 or 4 auto saves though. I might delete a couple.
I thought oblivion and fallout 3 used the gamebryo engine while skyrim uses the new creation engine, I could be wrong though.

  9. I'm glad skyrim still has the cheap skill up for sneaking that I used since morrowind. I had morrowind on the Xbox so I just snuck behind a merchant backed up to a wall and propped the analog stick against my end table.

I just did the same thing in skyrim last night. activated the thief stone, went into an inn, and snuck up against a wall. problem was that I'm using a keyboard on pc now. but luckily, I have an ms sidewinder keyboard. I think this is the only other time I found use for it other than buying it strictly for the volume jog dial. it has a cruise control switch to make it like you're holding a key down. so I just turned it on so my character would keep backing up against the wall.

went to bed and woke up with 100 sneak skill and gained a few levels.

  10. so I messed with it a little more and it definitely doesn't seem worth it. maybe if you play straight up solo thief/rogue style with no magic, I can see it being a must. I recently just realized you can eat the ingredient to find out the properties. if some potions had some long duration buffs, I'd actually use it, but for now my venison stew is more useful.

  11. You also have to make a shitload of potions to level alchemy.

  12. I'm doing alchemy mainly as a way to make money and level my character. Just as with oblivion I don't make potions to use them. I'll pick up health and magicka potions but I only use them if im in a tough battle. For example I ran up to a Mage to stab his ass and didn't realise he was an ascended necromage. His first spell hit me and I saw my health being reduced to zero so pulled up the menu and drank some healing potions. I can't tell you how many times healing potions have saved my life as there is t always room/time to run away and heal.

  13. Yesterday I got hit with a giant's axe. Not only did it kill me in one hit but it launch me into orbit and I never returned. I also got turned into a horse. Has anyone else seen sheep and elk running along the bottom of lakes and river? I can't believe they didn't fix that.

So what are people doing with their dragon bones and scales? I'm just saving mine.

  14. Saving them. I'm pretty sure they're used to make dragon armor once you've maxed out smithing.

  15. I've been selling mine as I only learned yesterday that you need them for the armour. Now I'm keeping them all. The first time I was killed by a giant the same thing happened to me, there's videos on youtube showing that it's really not uncommon.

I just had two dragons appear at the same time. I didn't know it was possible and I'm not sure it's meant to happen as I didn't get the soul of the first one when I killed it, it didn't even burn up like they normally do. I still got my bones and scales from it so it's not all that bad. I filmed it on my phone too and I'll probably upload the whole epic battle tomorrow and post it here, even the imperial legion got involved and once I'd killed the second, much harder, dragon they turned their attention to a local guard. I blew them all away with my shout just for a laugh.

  16. I've been majorly leveling up smithing. Seems like a much better use of time and money than something like alchemy as it gives you the best weapons and armor.

  17. I've been doing it the trifecta way, make a bunch of daggers/rings, put petty soul enchant, and vendoring as it seems to be a good way to skill up enchant and smithing (and speechcraft to an extent) while making money back.

Are you still doing it that way? How was the mage college soul gem inventory? I'm gonna need an assload.

  18. I did that for awhile, but now I have so much money that I'm just paying for training so I don't have to grind. Seriously, the Dark Brotherhood is one of the best quests to do early on. I haven't found anything else that pays as well.

As far as the soul gems, there are tons of them at the college and they're poorly guarded. There's also an arcane enchanter right there.

  19. LOL. I made the mistake of messing with one of the giants myself. Is it even possible to defeat one of those guys? One hit and you're done.

  20. Well, when I had that problem in BioShock, Oblivion or FO3 on 360 it seemed to be due to a cache error. So I just cleared the game cache and the performance picked up again.
