Hmm, my poor FPS in Markarth and some other areas is becoming a joke. I sware my laptops GPU (which is about as good as a 5770) should be netting me great performance, but it isn't. I wonder if it's my CPU causing me the trouble.
What kind of CPU do you have? I'm running a Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.4ghz and it handles the game like a champ despite being old as hell. I doubt it's your CPU.
It's an i5 but it's only clocked at 2.2GHz, I think I read somewhere that the game seems to scale heavily on clock speed as it's only optimised for 2 threads. I just tried messing around with some settings and no matter what settings I change that are dependant mostly on the GPU I don't get any difference in frame-rate. From low to ultra the difference in frame-rate is not appreciable. I'm almost certain it's my CPU now.
I guess that makes sense. This is a pretty old engine from 2006 that Bethesda has basically just tweaked a bit.
Sometimes my unrelenting force has no affect on my targets. Not sure why. Destruction and illusion have some pretty good AOE spells that probably don't have an equivalent in other classes. However, compared to Oblivion I think the mage is a little gimped on the single target attack. The impact perk is it's saving grace. Once you get a target staggered they can't fight back and go down easily. But it's worthless if you have multiple attackers. It actually makes killing dragons sort of easy. Some never even get a breath attack on me. Last night I met my first blood dragon in the courtyard of the college. It probably would have killed me but the instructors joined the battle. I suppose they are like level 100 or something. That dragon died fast.
Wow your character must really suck. I killed that blood dragon in like under a minute with no help. A couple of arrows and two or three whacks with the warhammer and it was dead. I guess going the gay harry potter magic route doesn't really pay off.
for heavy armor, daedric is considered higher quality than dragonplate like you figured. http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Armor
I think legendary dwarven with the ancient knowledge perk is actually the best. But I can't get anyone with daedric here to post their armor rating for comparison purposes.
It's 6.24am and I just pulled a sickie. I'll probably start playing around 7 and I'll post the numbers for my dragon armour.
What other perks do you have in heavy armour though? I don't have any yet myself so I can't really be of help at the moment.
Mages can stun enemies with a dual cast while unleashing conjured allies like Dremora Lords. Destruction and Conjuration work well together. I think you'd be surprised how dangerous two Dremora Lords alone can be. They might clear out a room by themselves.
Yeah I need to bump my conjuration. Illusion leveling is almost a joke. Cast Muffle about 300 time and you'll be at 100. That has to be the easiest skill to level. Traveling in the form of a werewolf is awesome. Probably faster than a horse.
Once my I've put more perks into my enchanting I'm going to do this. Note he shows an Ebony sword at the beginning that has a damage of 80. My legendary daedric sword has a damage of 66. I'm seriously thinking about totally remaking my sword and dragon armour with the smithing enchantents. I made and upgraded my dragonplate armour without any kind of buffs so the base values of legendary dragon armour are as follows. Armour: 196 Boots: 81 Gauntlets: 81 Helmet: 97 Shield: 73
So it's still slightly better. legendary dwarven with ancient knowledge perk: Armor: 180 Boots: 80 Gauntlets: 80 Helmet: 94 Shield: 73
My Daedric swords do 108 damage a peice thanks to all the enchanted smithing items I've made. All +26% at the moment, boots, blacksmiths apron, leather bracers, helm, ring and a necklace.
I guess when I get around to making Daedric or Dragon armor I can use all of the crazy buffs like the guy in the video.
I'll probably level up Illusion next, then. I've mainly used low level Illusion spells to toy around with weaker enemies that would have just died from one hit from one of my fireballs or high level summons. It was interesting that when I used Calm I was able to briefly talk to the enemy and they were quite friendly. When it wore off, they wanted to put my head on a pike again. Conjuration has turned out to be one of the most impressive skill areas I've seen. I'm quite glad that I used my perk points to trick out this type of magic.
i think the only magic that impresses me is when i one shot every bandit with my bow and arrow and i don't even have 60 archery yet. plus i'm just using the common steel arrow still. i've made it more interesting for myself by sneaking up behind them and slicing their throat instead with my awesome damage steel dagger.... i really need to make myself some new weapons.. edit: i still get ridiculously owned by some animals though. only takes them a few hits and i'm out for the count. most notably cave bears and sabre cats.
Conjuration takes care of those types of enemies. Run behind your tank atronach and let the fast melee enemies fight them while you back up and shoot them from a distance.
That's pretty much what I do. Instead of conjuration though, I use my partner as bait. Problem is that Lydia drops pretty quick against two sabre cats. I need to get her some better armor. On the same note, I read a possible bug that your partner doesn't level with you at all. So I think my Lydia is level 8 or something still while I'm running around at level 28.
