I've seen videos where people have been one shotting dragons, it looks really easy with the right perk, bracers and race ability.
I think that might be true. Lydia kept getting killed so I've been leaving her at the house back in Whiterun. Would make sense if I'm level 30 and she's only at level 8. I've been using Dark Brotherhood initiates because they're kind of disposable. On another note, an easy way to make money is to get married. Your wife will open up a store and give you half of the money.
oh snap we're gonna tie the knot then. its about time for her to put down the two hander and settle down anyways. she blocked my doorways one too many times. think I'm gonna find some firey nord dike to be my next work wife.
Hmm, I selected a female Altmer as my mage character, as I thought magic is a bit girly anyway. So by having a female character, does that mean if I get married I can keep all my gold for myself as well as expect the husband to send most of his money my way? And if I get divorced, do I get the supposed 70%/ 30% split that Linda "Hogan" Bollea apparently got?
Does the bow have the single most powerful attack? Also is there critical hits because I've killed a few people in one shot when it should have taken many.
There's a Sneak perk that does 15x damage for dagger attacks. I would think that has to be way up there.
It really depends on how you spent your perks and whatnot. If you perked up sneak for Deadly Aim - 3x damage sneak attack (default sneak damage with everyone is 2x) with bow and rank up Overdraw in archery (20/40/60/80/100% more damage with bows), and put a perk point in Steady Hand (slows down time by 25%, 2 points for 50%) you can pretty much one shot 5 people in a row before they can even find you. Assassin's Blade in sneak gives you 15x damage with sneak attack with daggers though. So I wonder if combining that with one handed weapon perks would be more deadly. I've pretty much spent probably 90% of my perk points in sneak and archery so I've been able to mess around with a few things. I've got 100 sneak skill already but archery is being a pain in the ass to skill up. I'm somewhere in the high 50's. I've been able to murder most people with the 15x sneak damage with daggers, but not everyone. Most likely due to me still using a shitty ass Skyforge Steel Dagger and having 0 perks in one handed weapons. And yea, there are critical hits. Just watch the top left of your screen and it'll alert you when you get sneak attack and critical hit bonuses.
I thought warhammers had the single most powerful attack, especially if you sneak. My legendary daedric warhammer does 129 damage. Combine that with a sneak attack bonus and I can't believe there's anything more powerful. Sure, it has crappy DPS, but when most enemies die in one hit, who cares? Daggers only do like 5-10 damage. So even at 15x, meh.
I've been able to increase my archery skill just goofing around with Bound spells from Conjuration. If you cast Bound Bow, you get a bow with unlimited arrows for awhile. It's a glowing Daedric looking weapon, too. Even though it's a Conjuration spell, you still get skill improvement for using the Bound weapon. There's a single handed sword, a bow, and a large axe.
Daggers can have as high as 36 damage. At x15, that's pretty potent. Then there's a piece of gear that doubles backstab damage. And you can probably get even more damage from other perks and gear. I wouldn't be surprised if the dagger backstab is the single most powerful blow in the game.
How often in combat can you sneak though? Yeah, you'll get one really good kill off and then you're left with a wimpy weapon.
I've seen people killing dragons with one strike from a dagger so don't dismiss them so readily. There's a perk that makes sneak attacks with daggers to x15 damage, then there's some shroud gloves you can wear that double the damage so that's x30 and then you can be an Orc and use the berserk to double again making a total of x60 damage. You could probably use a potion to further boost one handed weapons and you're set. So long as you have incredibly high sneak or some invisibility potions you should be able to sneak kill everyone. I'll have to try it out some time.
I'm going to start playing with that. I imaging the bound bow with soul stealing is awesome. Do the archery perks work with bound bows? I also wasted a few perks in illusion today just to get the silent casting perk. I think that will make life a little easier.
I have no archery perks, so I couldn't say. I didn't expect it to increase my archery or other skills, but it does. I can confirm that you can also get sneak damage through Bound weapons. I also happened to upgrade Illusion for silent casting today. I was debating no doing it because it costs 4 points to get there, but then I realized that it would also make leveling up Sneak much easier, and I could also incorporate Bound weapons into my sneaking attacks. Trying to use Bound weapons without silent casting doesn't really work because the enemies are alerted by the sound of the cast without that perk. I'm actually pretty pleased with the silent casting. I launch most of my attacks with a few quick sneaky bow attacks, then I use some summons as needed. Frost Atronachs are my tanks that mostly absorb damage and distract. Dremora Lords are wrecking balls that tend to kill off a good chunk of enemies.
How strong are the bound bows? I'm guessing there's only one bound bow spell and it's for a daedric bow.
I've never used any type of bow other than the Bound bow. My character is primarily a mage, although I'm just now starting to add some elements of stealth and weapons. It gives you a glowing daedric bow and 99 arrows for a limited span of time. You can then immediately re-cast it, so you basically have unlimited arrows at your disposal. The limiting factor for me is that my archery skills are only around the high 30s to low 40s right now with no archery perks. Someone who had archery and conjuration tricked out would probably benefit a lot more. Also, the Bound weapons aren't going to benefit from the improvements seen with smithing and/or enchanting, which can be substantial when those skills are fully upgraded. Regardless, it's still pretty awesome that you can upgrade Conjuration and weapons skills simultaneously. I wish I had started messing with them earlier. If you create a character that will use both weapons and conjuration, this is the way to go for leveling up your character.
I can see my full mage (when I make him/her) will be taking full advantage of all of the schools of magic, especially conjuration, it sounds like they've really beefed it up this time round.
