Yeah, I mean the characters don't even have any momentum when they move around and it just looks like another Gamecube type game where you run around and punch stuff. I really don't know what anyone sees in it. I did a lot of research about it, but I just don't get it. Maybe someone can help enlighten me?
You're right, I still see many of the downfalls of Oblivion present, and I just couldn't get into that game. I'm definitely going to give it a try though since I think enough has changed for it to be a great game for me. The graphics aren't that impressive but they are certainly more diverse and natural than Oblivion.
The huge world and free roam for whatever you do is interesting in the elder scrolls games. They really need to tighten up the combat though, mostly the melee aspect.
I see better draw distance which is great. Better shadowing which adds some realism. Skins and magical effects seem better. It's a jump forward but not a revolution or anything.
Yeah but the difference between Uncharted and Oblivion is that Oblivion is actually good, and Skyrim even better.
No, I think that is a fair assessment Phisix. Armadeadn likes Oblivion more than Uncharted so he can say that if he wishes. Plus I believe that the average score lies in favour of Oblivion, so it's somewhat fair to lable it as the better game from a objective stand point.
Skyrim will supposedly take advantage of the PhysX engine on Nvidia cards. No universal support with Havok.
Reviews mean nothing, it's just someone's opinion of a game, your general situation can have a massive effect on how you view a game. If I hadn't spent an amazing week round a mates house getting drunk, having bbbqs and playing nothing but Final Fantasy X it might not be my favourite game of all time. I don't read reviews, just because someone liked it doesn't mean I will. I've not played Uncharted 2 but I know it's not as good as Oblivion.
Well, if it's anything at all in the slightest like the first game (which you imagine it would be) then it's not as good as Oblivion.
Oblivion wasn't even that good. It had a nice engine and pretty game world and that was pretty much it. The gameplay and storyline sucked balls, the NPCs behaved like robots, and it had like three voice actors total for a world with hundreds of characters. For all its attempts at immersion, it was one of the least immersive games I've played. Fallout 3 took the nice engine from Oblivion and actually made a good game out of it.
