That would be nice, be able to carry on. Will turn auto saves back on to see if that no longer crashes my ps3 from time to time too.
For people playing the PC version, you can get the high res texture pack as free dlc on steam now. screenshot: http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/202485/ss_496f03e567f26b7a7ed200de81216bbab533a5ec.1920x1080.jpg?t=1328636822 steam store page: http://store.steampowered.com/app/202485/?snr=1_5_9__205 wow, the forum cant even wrap text correctly.
I am after an hour with the 1.4 on the PS3 and there's a HUGE difference. The game is so smooth! This is mostly evident outdoors. Well, X360 owners, if your game was as smooth from the beginning as we can see it now, I envy you a little bit.
Still playing the hell out of this game. Currently close to getting a few of the better trophies trophies such as finish 10 side quests (all the guild ones, Daedric ones, misc ones etc don't count towards this total so it has taken me ages to get to 9), learn 20 shouts and have 100,000 gold. I have done around half of the Daedric Quests for that trophy and this is my main focus at the minute. I have the skeleton key but want to keep hold of it for now so won't be finishing the thieves guild anytime soon and am part way through the Dark Brotherhood quest line. Still loving this game, so much to do I just don't have enough time to do it and going for the trophies is driving me on even more. I think I will probably leave the 1000 bounty in all 8 holds one until last. Although I will save before I do it and then reload afterwards I still don't want to take the risk. Think I will just charge in with a frenzy spell and set everyone against each other. Trophy count currently around 50% but mostly Silver and Gold to go which count for a lot more than the bronze ones.
I decided to max out my destruction and damm. When you absolutely, positively got to kill every mother fraker in the room, get firestorm. Lighting Storm has to be one of the most powerful attacks in the game. This guy kills a dragon, mammoth, and a giant in 30 seconds.
Looks like he has heavily modified the Daedra Armour set so that his Destruction spells cost nothing. I know how to do it but I am now going to make a final push to finish the story so that I can move on to another game, 2 months is enough I think. I aim to get the 13 standing stone trophy before I finish (have 10) and last night finished the Dark Brotherhood quest line. Just need to finish the Thieves guild to get the final faction trophy out of the way and then I will look to finish the game. I should have nearly all of the trophies when I am finished bar maybe the 100,000 gold and the 15 Daedra artifacts (have about 10), if I can be bothered I will come back for those another time to platinum the game. I have really enjoyed it but I now feel there is only so many dungeons I can explore before it maybe gets old. I have my illusion at 100 so most of the enemies kill themselves and any that don't I crush with my destruction spells.
I think I'm going to make a push towards finishing the main quest now. This game deserves to be "finished" in that respect.
The main quest isn't that long, and Alduin is surprisingly easy. So just finishing the game shouldn't be too big of a deal. Sovngarde is basically Valhalla, and it's a pretty neat place that's worth seeing.
Yeah, I think I'm probably around 50% of the way through the main quest already, but I took a long break from it to level my character and ramble around. I had been thinking of finishing off all the dragon priests first, but then found out that one of them is part of the main quest, so no point in delaying.
Well, it took me awhile to wade through all the gloom lurkers, death lords, dragons, and dragon priests in Alftand and Skuldafn etc., but I've made it to Sovngarde...and turned off the 360 to give it a rest. I've decided that the Blades can F off as well in regards to Paarthurnax.
I also spared Paarthurnax. I thought he was a cool character who didn't deserve to die. Remember to use dragonrend on Alduin or he's basically invincible. I got so burnt out with this game that I've pretty well put it away until they release some DLC. I think I put around 100 hours into it, which is crazy.
I'm closing in on 110 hours now, which is about 40 more than I put into Oblivion. All the sneaking I've done has definitely padded that number a bit.
A friend of mine accidentally deleted his sabe file with over 200 hours clocked up. If I deleted my 200 hour save file I'd go mad.
Finished the main quest and thought that the segment at the Throat of the World after you're transported back from Sovngarde was very well done. Satisfying and also a bit eerie at the same time, which is totally appropriate for this game! I then rushed to purchase a house in Whiterun for some reason and found out exactly why it's called "Breezehome". Some wry humor from the Bethesda staff...
I have had to put finishing this off, I think I am burnt out to be honest. Too many draugr and falmar, only so many times you can kill them with the same fireball and frenzy spells in 100 hours. I will finish it and I did enjoy it but I started to find it repetitive near the end as once you have picked a route for your damage you end up committing and as a result doing the same things over and over. Could have done with some more spells and enemy types. Probably best to have a month or so off so that I don't find finishing it more of a drag than a pleasure. Overall I still prefer Fallout, more interesting environment and overall plot and I really missed my pip-boy + VATs.
I wouldn't call 30 square miles of rubble interesting, but then again I wouldn't play through borderlands three times and call Skyrim repetitive either.
There are 5 types of enemies in Skyrim. Draugr, Falmar, Daedra, Humanoids (races) and Dragons and they all have the same weapons and move sets, you just fight them over and over again in every dungeon. That for me got repetitive. I got bored of killing them with fire spells and bored of them killing themselves with frenzy spells. In the end I just ran through every dungeon because nothing was a challenge until you got to the boss.
Overall I still prefer Fallout, more interesting environment and overall plot and I really missed my pip-boy + VATs.
In retrospect, I agree with this. Skyrim was a lot better than Oblivion, but Fallout 3 was a much better game than either of them. Way more variety in enemies, quests, and locations and a much better storyline. Bethesda focused on quality over quantity with Fallout and it shows. A lot of the quests in Fallout were really memorable, whereas the ones in Skyrim were mostly pretty generic and all just kind of blur together in my memory.
