Elder Scrolls V Skyrim

  1. I've recreated my main character from oblivion, Shinji the high elf battlemage. Sword, shield, heavy armour with a bit of destruction thrown in for ranged attacks. I can't get enough of the killing animations lol. My standing power attacks now have a chance of beheading my enemies. The shield bash is useful too, it'll be especially handy once I get the perk that makes it do 5 times damage. I just bought a necklace that increases magicka regeneration by 40%, which is nice. As with oblivion I plan on making several characters so I can enjoy all the skills. Full Mage, tank warrior, thief/archer etc etc.

  2. Here's my guy. I named him Drogo.

  3. I finally got my video card back. Gigabyte just sent me a new/unopened card which was kind of nice. I was afraid they would send me a refurb or try to repair my old card.

The graphics in Skyrim are a bit better than FO3, but they aren't mind blowing. The game does run really well on my PC though. I'm getting a solid 60FPS on high at 1680x1050.

I decided to try a melee character first so I went with a Nord. I made it through the first segment with the dragon attacking the town, and am now wandering around the countryside, but I was never given the option to pick a class. When does that happen?

  4. The race that you choose has an impact on your class, but you'll also run across standing stones that you can activate to improve certain class oriented abilities.

  5. So it's more like FO3 where you don't have a class per se, but you can develop your attributes in a certain direction?

  6. The first Guardian Stones are on the path Southwest of Riverwood but there are more in the game. Each stone will give you you a powerful ability but you can only have one active at a time. The one I chose makes my magic skills improve 20% faster.

  7. The game seems pretty stable to me, but I knew about the audio trick before starting. I haven't had it crash yet.

I'm really liking what I've played so far. It's like they took they best elements of Oblivion and FO3 and combined them in one awesome game.

  8. Ok, now that I can summon Dremora Lords the game has become too easy. The Dremora Lords can solo Dragur Deathlords with ease, it's crazy.

  9. The only problem I have with summoning is the lost experience by having the creature fight. I'll use it when I need it but I normally like getting the battle experience.

*Is anyone using the Dragon words on a regular basis? I find them to be a little weak.*

  10. *I've gotten a few shouts now, just wait untill you get higher level versions of the same shout, then they become much more effective.*

  11. Here's Shinji when he's having a casual clothes day. He's clearly seen a few battles.

And here he is decked out in his complete set of of superior steel plate armour with ebony shield and superior glass sword.

  12. I'm liking a lot of the stuff that carried over from FO3. Beating someone's skull in with a warhammer in slowmo never gets old. I also like that some of the quests now have moral choices.

  13. Here's a list of literally many tricks and tips that could be handy to know when playing Skyrim

Some I spotted that I didn't know before are:

    Loads.

  14. Ebony shield eh? Pick that up off the floor in some dungeon or have you come across someone who had one?

  15. I can't remember to be honest. I probably found it on a body because it's enchanted. +40% shock resist.

  16. Nice find! So far the best items I've recieved have been quest related, the rest I've either sold off or disenchanted.

  17. So close to 100 in conjuration, just a few more levels and I'll be the ultimate mage, then I can get started on smithing and proper melee combat (I'm only level 60 in 1-handed weaponry at the moment), I'd like to be equiped with full Daedric armour and have a guard of 2 dremora lords.

  18. Evil Mage perhaps? The greybeards pointed out a new word on my map and on my way to it i made a last minute decision to enter a nearby ruin. It was mainly draugrs but at the end there was a draugr death overlord. The regular death lords made light work of me when I encountered them so I was going to flee but thought I'd have a go at this death overlord. I used all my skills and abilities (including running away to heal a lot) but I bested him in the end, got an orcish sword from him that I'll turn into a supreme sword when I get back. Furthermore there was a new word waiting for me too! Glad I went in now. So now I'm going to get the word the greybeard pointed out and return home glorious.

  19. Ever had to fight those Liches with the masks? They makes Dragur Deathlords look like jokes.

  20. This game has some hilarious exploits.. if you did one of those beginning quests between faendel (sp?) and sven who like the same girl (camilla) and side with faendel, you can train your skill ups in archery for free.

have him follow you, then train in archery, then trade with him and take your gold back. repeat. i'm gonna keep him for a few levels for massive free training. actually, you lose about 10 gold per training, but that's negligible under this circumstance. this'll probably work with with other trainers that will partner with you.
