I consider them exploits rather than tips and tricks. bethesda will probably patch a few things. The horse up the mountains is literally a messed up physics oversight. your horse can literally go up vertically up a side of a cliff. Makes a mountain goat look silly.
I'd just like to know if I can use the basket-over-the-head trick for the Death Lords and Liches...
Sounds good. I've been putting everything into two handed weapons and heavy armor for now, but I would like to level archery. I've gotten to where I can clunk someone over the head once with a warhammer or battleaxe and they die, but I have no ranged abilities to speak of.
I've got the Khajiit cat character, so that's probably my highest rated individual skill at the moment. I always try for the sneak attack arrow damage in the dungeons...I think I'm at 37 or so for that individual skill.
The main story is definitely a lot more engaging in this one as alterego said earlier. I haven't found myself wandering around doing random quests as much as I did in Oblivion.
Seems this game has a level system more like Fallout. I've wandered into a region that's a bit too high for me but it's good fun sneaking across the landscape.
The leveling system was the major thing I disliked about Oblivion. It's so much better in Skyrim. I see lots of positive influence from Fallout 3 filtering into Skyrim.
Yeah, seems to be a good mixture of them in that regard. You tried enchanting anything yet? I really liked Morrowind's system for that and hoped I might see something like it in this.
I started the Dark Brotherhood quests. You murder an old lady who runs an orphanage in order to get their attention, which is pretty messed up. My answer to their little challenge was just to kill all three people, which I guess was the correct answer.
I found the entrance to a Dark Brother hood sancutary, I hate the Dark Brotherhood so much, worst quest lines in any Elderscrolls game.
Is this a joke? I find them to be the best quests. Being a sociopathic dickhole who sneaks around murdering people is fun times. The Dark Brotherhood also has interesting lore. The Dark Brotherhood quests were one of the only things I liked about Oblivion. The only other good quest was the thieves guild one where you steal an Elder Scroll. All of the other quests in that game sucked and weren't engaging or immersive in any way. Thankfully it seems like Bethesda learned a lot about proper story telling and quest construction with FO3 and it's carried over to Skyrim. On another note, I've had a weird issue where I set the sneak button to "shift" and it resets to "ctrl" every time I restart the game. None of my other settings reset.
No, it most definitely isn't, they were boring and derivitive. They were definitely the worst aspect in Oblivion, to the extent where I could never bother to finish the story arc.
Derivative of what exactly, movies about hitmen like Leon the Professional? The hitman games? I can think of worse things to rip off. Hitman Blood Money was awesome. Elder Scrolls in general is about as derivative of Lord of the Rings and other fantasy stuff as you can get, and this is the one thing you're going to pick on?
In a word. Yes. Anyway, having 100 in conjuration is amazing, especially now that I can have two permanently bound Atronachs.
So it seems as if you're a cheap bastard like me, you don't really need to buy arrows in this game. Just find a place where there's someone doing shooting practice on a target dummy and stand next to it. You can just rip off the arrows from it. If the guy practicing leaves, just wait a few hours and he'll be back to his daily routine giving you free arrows again.
The Dark Brotherhood quest in Oblivion was awesome. Probably enjoyed that the most. I can only conclude that you are criminally insane, Armitage.
---Major Spoilers---- You won't want to skip the Dark Brotherhood in this one. You get to assassinate the emperor himself for 20,000 gold. You're missing a big plot point and a ton of money if you skip it. I haven't played any other quests yet that give you that kind of money. The emperor is surrounded by some pretty tough guards on his ship, so you need to either be really good at sneaking and lock picking (his door has an expert level lock) or really good at melee combat when you go to take him out. You should also talk to him before you kill him. He wants you to kill the member of the Elder Council who set him up.
