Fallout 4

  1. Yeah I'm not sure I'll ever use it except in special fights. It's expensive to run and fix. I've already replaced the helmet, a leg and an arm. That first battle pretty much destroyed it. It does look pretty cool once it's fixed up. I also came across a raider version of the armor but I'm not sure what to do with it.

  2. Yeah, I read a review that said the same thing about the power armor. Stand and fight situations only, pretty much. I'm sure I'll end up getting this game, just need to wait awhile for the PS4 patching process.

  3. Funniest bug I've seen is dog meat flying around inside an elevator while it was moving.

  4. Overall it feels like a tweaked FO3 with a bit of a half-baked but still pretty fun base/settlement building aspect and some of the crafting stuff from Skyrim. I've read the console versions are much rougher than the PC version and are badly in need of patching. Giant Bomb actually gave the console versions a lower score than the PC version.

So far it feels like a very solid 8/10 to me. If you liked FO3 and Skyrim you will like this. It builds on an existing formula. If you were expecting something radically new and different, you might be disappointed. This probably isn't going to blow your mind like that first time you played Oblivion on the 360 or PC in 2006. It might become a 9/10 if the DLC is good. I thought vanilla FO3 was also an 8/10, but the game became a 9/10 with DLC.

  5. Yeah really it's just Fallout 3 +1. Nothing unexpected or revolutionary here. It has all the same bump and bruises that 3 did. Bugs, less than spectacular graphics, mediocre story. But despite all that it's still a fun game just like 3 was. I do hate the inventory system. I just realized I was carrying about 70 pounds of crap I didn't need.

I've decided to keep al my companions at the Red Rocket. I seem to lose them anywhere else. I also built a ladder to the roof and put a gun turret up there. There really wasn't a good reason to do that other than I could.

  6. I've been using Sanctuary as a home base. I go back there between missions and dump all of the junk I've collected. I'm glad they added a "dump all junk" button at the workshop. Was there any problem with leaving companions at Sanctuary? Do they wander off or something?

  7. It's just a bigger area to find them. It took me like 10 minutes to find Dog Meat because he sleeps in a dog house behind a house I never go near. At the Red Rocket they all stay near the same building.

  8. Ammo seems to be pretty scarce, except for the .38 used by those horrible pipe guns. I have like 500 rounds of it. Have you found anything decent that shoots .38? Or is the point that you're supposed to upgrade the pipe weapons?

  9. I've kept two highly modified .38 pipe guns. One is an auto with an ammo drum and is great for hitting fast things when I don't want or can't use VATS. 13 x 48 = 624 damage until empty. I have about 800 rounds of it so I just unload at the baddies. I also got a relatively powerful 38 sniper. It does less than half damage than my real sniper riffle (19) so I only use it at long range when I know the enemy wont come after me. If weight becomes an issue I'll get rid of the sniper riffle but the auto is just a great way to burn through weak ammo. At this point I'm carrying so many guns it's about 60% of my load. I've doubled on the scavenger perk so I'm finally getting a good amount of ammo for each weapon. I'll probably ditch the 10mm soon. I kind of think it's the worst ammo/gun combo in the game. It's both under powered and hard to find. Sure the .38 is weaker but there is so much of it that it still has a purpose.

I want a corgi dog meat. Imagine how hilarious a corgi tackling super mutants would be.

  11. Ug. I was up to 2 Am building trade routes between all my settlements. Now everybody is happy.

  12. I'm totally going to do that. Adhesive is a big limited factor to making most anything.

  13. It's a key ingredient that's rare out in the world and insanely expensive at vendors.

  14. I want to believe.

  15. I really only use the fatman against deathclaws. It's pretty damn epic though.

  16. I am totally into the game right now. Level 7, few quests behind, cleaning the area near sanctuary (east and south up to the highway).

Great game so far, ugly as f**k but playable as always.

  17. Which is why gameplay > graphics as usual. Although its great to have both, graphics are always on the backburner for me as long as the game/gameplay is epic.

  18. I just found out I can build upwards. Sanctuary is getting a new high-rise apartment complex..
