Fascism in America

  1. Oh I agree, he is the lesser of two evils. Romney is like a real life version of Mr Burns from the Simpsons.

  2. I wouldn't vote for someone who believes he has magic underpants that can protect him from knives, bullets, and the devil.

  3. This ad is running in the Midwest currently, including in Ohio, where Obama has pulled ahead. The Republicans have not won an election without Ohio.

    Mitt is fucked.

  4. Why people think a spoiled rich brat who made a fortune laying people off, closing companies, and sending jobs overseas is going to create jobs is beyond me.

  5. Julian Assange has been declared an "Enemy of the State" by the US. Keep in mind the NDAA indefinite detention is back into effect after an appeal ended the permanent injunction. Thus, communicating with Assange or Wikileaks personnel could result in permanent imprisonment for life as long as that is in effect.

The Obama administration would not rule out that they would interpret "associated forces" as even journalists who communicated with terrorist operatives as part of their job. What do you think their interpretation would be if you gave money or whatever support to someone publicly declared an Enemy of the State, which now includes Assange?

  6. It's the U.S. military that designated him as an "enemy of the state", and military personnel that are at risk of being charged with "communicating with the enemy" if they contact or support WikiLeaks.

  7. I can't believe this cop actually did this, in a public place, surrounded by hundreds of people.

Bet he stays on the force though.

  8. I counted about 14 cops in the video and he's the only one wearing a white shirt. Nope wait. I see two more in the back. Wonder what the diff is.

  9. If you watch closely you'll see someone behind the woman throw a water bottle at the police. Old High Tower there just turns and hulk smashes the first person he sees, which happened to be a woman spraying silly string. That's just plain assault right there on camera. I hope he goes down for that.

  10. Based on episodes of Law & Order, I believe white uniforms are higher ranking officers like Captains. Nothing will happen to him.

  11. She was poor and Hispanic. Nothing will happen to him. He might even get a medal for this. They do have minority beatdown quotas to meet you know. And being black, he's got to go that extra mile to put on a show for the white cops.

  12. Smashing a women in the face and drawing blood is going too far and all the rest of the police just watch. Isn't it a crime to beat up women or is your country exempt?

  13. It depends on who does what. If the woman became angry and asked why was she clocked in the face, that's resisting arrest, assault of an officer, and obstruction of justice. If a cop beats they daylights out of her just to pass the time, that's business as usual.

Nothing happens to police here. They can do whatever the hell they want. I had a very telling experience reading through comments on youtube of a video of police brutality. The Americans were rejoicing about a cop being convicted after beating someone...until they found out it was from a local news station in Canada and collectively said something to the effect of "Oh, no wonder!"

The people identifying themselves as Canadians on the other hand were freaking out over the video, indicating that it's the most horrible thing they've ever seen and couldn't believe a cop would behave in such a way.

  15. I'm pretty sure it's a crime to beat up men too.

  16. Looks like you were right. He's a lieutenant. Absolutely nothing will happen to him.

  17. The guy got fired.... for now.

Typically, these things are just for show and leave the sociopath cop better off than before. The police union will sue the department and typically win somehow. So the officer will get the cop his job back AND a pile of money for wrongful termination.

  18. According to the BBC website Romney 'won' last nights debate. I didn't really bother reading past the headline but I am surprised the American's on here are not discussing it after all the talk of recent weeks.

  19. Romney's debate "win" is essentially nonsense. There's absolutely nothing that he said in the debate that would force Obama to change his message. It was all about the "tone"...that Romney seemed more aggressive or energetic, not that Romney actually damaged Obama's campaign positions. Romney was actually forced to deny that he had proposed a $5 trillion tax cut, even though that's always been the centerpiece of his economic policy. So Obama basically nuked Romney's economic plan going forward, but Romney is the "winner".
