This. That bastardised version in FFIX made me rage. It was purely luck based. One of the many reasons I hated FFIX. @grim Blitzball wasn't about luck. It was based on stats just like the rest of the game. You had to calculate the likelihood of you being able to pull off the move you were after and plan 3 moves ahead. Admittedly there was some luck involved since the damage the opponent did wasn't laid out in stone but rather based within a range. Once I grasped the way the game handled I was hooked. As for the magic system in FFVIII it was one of my favourites. I liked the idea of having to actually have magic in stock rather than piss about with MP and taking ether or whatever it is that refills MP. I loved using the DRAW mechanic on enemies to draw the magic out of them. the first time I drew a GF out of a boss my mind was blown. I think Squall was really the only emo character in that game, but he went through development and really changed as a person by the end of the game which at least makes him interesting. One dimentional characters are so boring in RPGs.
Yep. It's been mentioned before. The only ones I would say I enjoyed were 7, 8, 10, 10-2, and (the story of) 13. Ones I don't like are 3, 9, and 12.
