So I spend my points instead of money on their big, profit making second hand games? That sounds a little counterintuitive.
That article mentions, as rumours of course, that the Orbis will lock new games to your PSN ID I guess to try and kill off the used game market. But what if you buy a game and someone who lives with you (siblings, spouses, children) wants to play it too, on their profile. Will they have to buy their own copy?
If they are playing on the same system, no. XBLA games are locked to a machine and a gamertag. The tag that bought it can play it on any machine but any other tag can only play it on the console on which it was purchased.
I bought Racedriver Grid and Trials HD from the LIVE marketplace a couple of years ago and my brother can't play on them using his profile, he has to sign into mine just to play, that's messed up.
If he's playing on your machine then he should be able to play them with his tag. If you happened to get a new machine since you bought those games you'll need to transfer the licence to your new 360 at the xbox website. I have friends who bring their profiles over here to play my Arcade games on my machine. It definately should work.
Yeah maybe that's it. It's a new Xbox, the one I actually paid for the games on red ringed on me ages ago. This reminds me I have to re-download Mercenaries 2. I had to get rid of it for space on my old 20gb Xbox lol. Now I have 320gb to play with.
Oh well. No love lost from me. At least now some new up and coming but cheap game stores can start popping up once again. We used to have a nice local like chain around here when I was younger called I.T Games. I wish they were still around.
The best game store up my neck of the woods is an Independant retailer called Grainger Games. Constantly win VG Retailer of the year, cheaper by miles anyone else; almost online prices. They were selling Dead Space 2, new, the other month for a bargain £8
We have a place called GameOn, but their prices are strictly RRP. They would however, sell games a day or two ahead of release if you knew the secret ways.
I drove about 20 miles to go to an independent shop I like just the other day. When I arrived I discovered it's just recently closed down. Real pity as the guy running it knew his stuff and they had a good selection of retro stuff. Couldn't compete with the big shops and online apparently.
Grainger Games must make a lot of money on their second hand selection and trade in but they're really good in that they knock down the prices of the new stuff too. Looking at their website it seems they're now as far south as Derby and Nottingham; impressive from their humble begginings on what was essentially a shitty little stall in the Grainger Market in Newcastle city center. While they've lost that small shop charm they're still super cheap and the guys working in town and the metrocenter shops are all friendly and love their games.
