lol. Nah, it's free. It just ties you into whatever genealogical research your relatives have done. My mother's family is utterly mundane and can only be traced back about 200 years. My father has two things going for him: the Massachusetts Bay Colony kept excellent records. Also European nobles kept excellent records.

If it gives you whacky results, you have your relatives to blame.

  2. Funny how you just got into watching Vikings and now your descended by some of the well known ones. :D

Mine goes as far back as Adam and Eve. ;)

  3. I can trace my roots back to a group of amino acids.

  4. Can’t see this being free. Had a quick look and it’s asking me to subscribe when I try to look up my famous great grandfather, who is curated by someone I’ve never heard of.

And didn’t you say your dad is Welsh before?

  5. Didn't you overrun this thread with your dirty DNA once before?

    Edit: Moved.

  6. I can't help it. I love getting my DNA all over everything.

    Paternal Grandfather = Welsh
Paternal Grandmother = English, but apparently descended from Normans and Vikings if the crazy stuff on Geni is to be believed
Maternal Grandfather = Iroquois (actually Mohawk, but they're one of the tribes that make up the Iroquois), might be a little bit French too, not sure
    Maternal Grandmother = Italian, French

  8. Looks a bit like a crowd sourced family tree from looking at it so I guess it’s going to vary in its reliability. Shame it’s pay to access as I’d be curious to see how accurate it is regarding my great grandfather. I think that’ll have a lot of links back I don’t know and ones I can easily check. Free trial but $120 a year is not something I want to risk if it’s a pain in the arse to cancel.

  9. Welsh, English, Italian, French and...indian...fuck off with the last one haha

I did the 23andMe spit swab test.

    99.9% European
    French/German - 19.1%
    British/Irish - 4.2%
    Scandinavian - 3.0%
    Finnish - 0.4%
    Italian - 17.8%
    Balkan - 1.2%
    Broadly Northwestern European - 31.2%
    Broadly Southern European - 10%
    Broadly Eastern European - 1.4%
    Ashkenazi Jewish - 0.4%
    Broadly European - 11.3%

I haven't really dove into the specific ancestry portion.

It does say that people who share common DNA with me tend to be British, and my dad's side of the family is English, so maybe the 31% "broadly northwestern European" means I'm the decendent of viking rape babies.

  11. Yo mama's so white, she could go to her wedding naked.
Yo Momma so white that when you turn off the lights you can still see her
yo mamma so white she makes vanilla ice cream say daaaamm!
Yo Momma So white, during winter she's invisible.
