No the battery is fucked it can be on charge all day and will never go past 89%, it drains faster than usual and tends to shut down without warning On 39% or 50%. The laptop used to last over 3 hours and it would give me a warning at 12% and 9% but now it only lasts for about an hour and half if I'm lucky.
First party that came with the laptop, I dont buy off Ebay anymore. It's been perfect for nearly two years but it's just dying now. I tried taking it out and seeing if powered the Laptop without it and it did so its nothing to do with the laptop. Had it on charge for four hours earlier and played the new South Park game for about 20 minutes after taking it out and it got a warning to charge again. Pretty obvious it does need replacing now or at least only used for long periods of gaming charger in all the time.
Don't they have a conservative estimate 300-500 discharge cycles for most Li-ion cells, if you charged a device every day that could be dead in under a year in the worst case scenario. Don't buy Chinese, it'll be a deathtrap and/or it'll have a fraction of the capacity it states.
Over 500 charges I think. I have let the battery run out a lot by accident as well so maybe charging loads and that is a deciding factor. Yeah i'd never buy anything Chinese, especially online.
Okay. I've come across an issue I've never seen before. When my Bro-in-law plays any kind of web video in Firefox it looks freaking weird. The video has like a double and triple image and each is a different color. It's like the video plays 3 times at different speeds with each version in it's own RGB color. I had him delete Firefox and re-install but the issue persist. Other browsers are not affected. I'm sure it has something to do with video plug-ins but I wont be able to trouble shoot that with him over the phone. Looks like this.
I would disable all add-ons and go from there. Then you can identify the issue by turning them on one by one. I have noticed previously that some ad blocking software does weird things between Youtube and FireFox. Also, have him update the browser again, because they just released their brand new browser on Tuesday. So far its been great, has fixed all old issues I ever had with Firefox and feels significantly faster than Chrome.
It's the update that caused this. I've found other people reporting the same thing. There is a setting in the config that might be able to fix it but since mine works I can't test it.
I haven't experienced that issue either. Video has been rendering far better than the previous version for me so far.
Been using my laptop more than my desktop lately at work as the NVMe PCI-E x4 SSD is so much quicker than the Samsung Evo SATA in my desktop. Both have a quad core i5 with 8GB RAM (desktop DDR3 laptop DDR4) but the laptop blazes past the desktop, especially with installs, the update to 1709 happened in less than 1/3 of the time it did on my desktop.
Why is Windows making me use a password every time I log in? It started after the last update. I've used netplwiz and unchecked the users must use password box.
I had the same thing start a few updates ago. The netplwiz instructions don’t work for administrator accounts. I had to modify the registry and setup auto login. But that may not be an option if you share a computer.
Thanks. I read that and was able to get netplwiz to work. I had to turn the password enforcement on, apply, then turn enforcement off again. I hope that works long term. Even before the last update my PC would randomly ask for a password after it woke from sleep. Now I need to figure out how to turn MS one drive off as it's always asks me to login after boot. It's another "feature" from the last update.
So now Windows only asks me for a password when it wakes up from sleep. Not all the time. Just sometimes. POS.
Are there any gains to be had from playing around with overclocking my graphics card in Afterburner? From what I've read, its very hit or miss.
The 480 can gain another 4 to 8 FPS with an good OC. You'll have to decide if that's important. There is a big difference between 28fps and 36fps but not that big of different between 56fps and 64fps. I don't OC my 1070 because it pointless. Every 1070 will go as it's temps allow. The cooler and temps determine the speed.
Dumb question, but I don't know the answer. Is there any difference between HDMI and Displayport at 1920x1080? Is there any advantage to choosing one or the other at that resolution?
I don't believe there is any difference with 1080p but I do hate the locking mechanism on some display port connectors. I'd rather have the cable get pulled out than have the cable pull on the monitor or PC.
