Just got my touchpad in earlier today. Hell this $99 touchpad is well worth it over that flimsy ass cr48 chromebook from google for free. It plays 720p flash videos with no probs (the webos browser on the touchpad is full browser) while the cr48 drops frames on 480p videos.
SOON http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?5682-Build-Progress-Updated-10-4 To tell you the truth, I don't even really know what I'd use android on it for. Initially I thought tablet browsers function the same as mobile browsers but that's not the case. And since this is android 2.3.5 port and not honeycomb, i'd be using apps not optimized for tablet 10" screen. Maybe if I had netflix or hulu+ i'd care but i do not. dual boot indeed.
I thought the Android tablets were faked but I guess not. http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/07/hp-launching-an-investigation-into-touchpads-shipped-with-androi/

HP has decided to keep its PC division after all. http://arstechnica.com/#!/business/news/2011/10/hp-changes-mind-will-keep-pc-division-after-all.ars
I figured they might. Even if they are loosing money it's a great way to advertise their brand name. Does anyone still remember IBM?
No buyers for WebOS. It's days are numbered. http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2011/oct/28/hp-psg-keep-webos-kill?CMP=twt_gu
So months and months after this fiasco, HP FINALLY decides on what to do with webos and crushes all the rumors. They will be open sourcing it. In other words, their whole acquisition of Palm has been a waste. http://www.theverge.com/2011/12/9/2623943/webos-being-open-sourced-says-hp
So for those who haven't followed. Beta for Open WebOS started at the end of last month. And look at this!! HP goes full retard. "HP CEO Meg Whitman says 'we have to ultimately offer a smartphone'" http://www.theverge.com/2012/9/14/3331282/hp-working-on-smartphone They've decided to go full circle on their decisions from last year.
When I posted this, they really looked like they were done. The clown who was running the company at that time seemed determined to run the company into the ground.
That's why Meg Whitman makes the big bucks: it only took her a year to figure out that smartphones were a reboot of the PC industry. Bonuses all around!
